The pineal gland and DMT

Does the pineal gland produce DMT? I have heard some reports say it does, and some say it doesn't, does anybody know the truth? If so, is it possible that when you die you release an extremely large amount of DMT, and are transported to DMT land? I have read many trip reports about elves, and specifically elves noticing the tripper there, and communicating with them as to say 'i am surprised you are here'. mayeb because you are still alive? What are your thoughts?
