Opinions - Conspiracy theory about legality of LSD + Cannabis

In the 60's, the hippie counterculture was at it's fullest. This counterculture involved a lot of young people opposing war and thinking for themselves. This is not what the government wanted! A couple of facts:

• Hippies took a lot of LSD and smoked a lot of pot
• LSD was made illegal in the US in 1966

The government saw that these hippies took a lot of LSD and cannabis, and, probably not coincidentally, thought war was wrong and wanted worldwide(alliteration++) peace, so what did they do? They made LSD illegal to try and make less people think war was wrong!!

What do you guys think? Do you think it's a coincidence that a lot of hippies took acid and opposed the war, and then lsd was made illegal, or do you think that the government saw what this drug was helping these people think, and decided to outlaw it?

^^perhaps. there seems to be no-reason\little for lsd, and various, safe, substances to be illigal.

Some, not all hippies took acid and smoked pot. Does acid make everyone who takes it love the world and wish for world peace? no. Are people who desire this in the first place more likely than war mongers to try LSD? maybe.

no acid does not make everyone wish for world peace, but hippies, generally, enjoyed LSD and wished for world peace, and i think the government latched on and illegalized it!

I don't think this is a theory at all. It's completely obvious. And, the most sickening part is, a lot of world leaders are junkies.

this could be true, though the only thing we have to remember with the US gov't, is it THINKS it is doing a good thing by outlawing all these drugs. so you have to understand that our gov't in other words is fucking stupid. Not one gov't drug researcher in history has done the drug they were asked to reasearch and slander upon. why dont they get the USERS to research, so that way it's an unbiased opinion, not a propoganda based one.

The government realized that they were losing control of the population through these substances, and they think that by illegalizing these substances they'll acheive a level of control...

Now, that makes it easier for them, but they still don't have control and they never will.

The revolution is coming back, and no law is going to stop it!
