oxy w/d
Swim has been taking oxycodone for about a year with the last 4 months of use being daily usage, around 20mg a day. Swim stopped taking them for about 2 months just over 2 months ago but this pain in swims stomach never subsided, so swim gave in and binged for like a week. Now he's been detoxing off of it for three days and once swim is having these stomach pains. This problem worries him. Most other people say when they stop taking opiates that they get diarhea but swims having just the opposite. He's able to make a bowel movement with much patience but it's very uncomfortable. His stomach is hurting very badly which he expected in the withdrawal, but is concerned about this problem and why he's experiencing the exact opposite symptoms from everyone else he's heard that has went through it. All help greatly appreciated!

Re: oxy w/d
Swim knows many people that use that. Ok what swiy has done is use what we call hillbilly heroine. It will be very uncomfortable to kick like heroine. Although oxy is pure and not full of crap like heroine so that is a plus. Give swim insight or pm if that is better, how much is swiy using? What dosage or strength. The icks vary is why swim asks. You won't die and this will pass. Don't get more. A lot of legitimate pain users get it from docs who don't monitor it and well end up like swiy and can't figure out why they are going through the torment. Doc's need to let swiy's know what they are in for if rxing oxy. It is pretty serious pain med. Luckily swim can't take oxy, allergic to opiates, or would be right there with you.
Also 20 mg a day isn't that high a dosage. 4 months isn't that long. Swiy may have other issues. Two months is too long unless swiy is leaving something out of this message. |

Re: oxy w/d
Swims taking around 4 of the 5mg oxycodone tabs a day. At one point he had been off for 2 months with one or two slip ups. Swim had been using for about 2 years but the last 4 months of using it was daily. Then he detoxed off of it for about 36 days and the stomach pain never went away so he used 10 mgs of oxycodone that night when the pain was extremely bad. He then didn't take any for around 4 or 5 weeks, but still the stomach pain didn't go away. so swim used for around 1 week and then decided that he doesn't wanna depend on a substance the rest of his life. so he proceeded to detox once again but the stomach pain from not being able to go to the bathroom was just so bad. At that point he decidided to start taking it again and now has been taking it for a couple days. Swim just doesn't think that 20mgs a day would make withdrawal last for that long but isn't positive. thanks swic

Re: oxy w/d
Ok that gives swim a little more enlightenment. Yes with long term usuage of it such as 2 years and 4 months straight no break, oh you bet swiy will feel discomfort. Ok yes constipation is common with that med. Kicking it or not, maybe a laxitive? That is what I said earlier, opiates cause extreme discomfort which keeps the user using. Has swiy tried to detox with medical help or consulted a doctor about tapering or getting off the med? I believe with oxy, swiy could taper but with help so swiy isn't in too much discomfort.
Swim agrees even with prescription meds that are legitimate, dependence isn't good unless the condition taken that requires the meds calls for it. For example if swiy had back surgury and is really hurting, he may need to see a pain specialist that could regulate the doses correctly. Swim has a lot of compassion for that. There is no shame in using oxy if the condition warrents it. |

Re: oxy w/d
Uh if swiy is worried about a serious medical condition then this isn't the place to seek help.Seeing a physician is what swiy should do.

Re: oxy w/d
Ditto on that! You could get an impaction, ouch!!!! And could hurt swiys intestines causing surgury. Have you tried correctol or exlax? Oh there is the green stuff that is liquid, names escapes me. Sold in places like walgreens, if swiy doesn't have a bm on that, def. see a doctor.

Re: oxy w/d
See a doctor. Do not take any fiber supplements or laxatives. SWIY is backed up from before he went off the oxy and nothing is going to get past that blockage. Nor is anything going to come out- the blockage has to pass first. And it sounds like it needs manual assistance at this point.
