Methylphenidate and saliva drug test

In my country police is performing salive drug tests to drivers, these are supposed to detect cannabis, amphetamine-like drugs, cocaine and opiates.

SWIM wants to know if Methylphenidate would give positive on these tests.

I only have information about urine-based tests so if anyone have a clue about saliva tests.......

SWIM believes ritalin would give a positive for amphetamines in such a test, certainly it gives a positive for ampetamines in a urine test. SWIM's rubifen information leaflet inside the box says it will give a (false) positive for amphetamines. it was in reference to sporting and athletic drug testing. although SWIM cannot be certain 100% that it would give a (false) positive for amphetamines, it is still more than likely to do so.

i think the above poster is right it should give a false positive.how do these tests work?does it test if you have used recently?or does it test back a few weeks?

so what im asking is can this trest see if you smoked pot a week ago?or is it just a test for weather or not you used on a certain day?

Detection in saliva tests begins immediately upon use:

• Marijuana and Hashish (THC): From time of ingestion, up to 24 hours.
• Cocaine (including crack): From time of ingestion up to 2 to 3 days.
• Opiates: From time of ingestion up to 2 to 3 days
• Methamphetamine and Ecstasy (MDMA, "Crank," "Ice"): From time of ingestion up to 2 to 3 days.
• Benzodiazepines: From time of ingestion up to 2 to 3 days.

Took this from wikipedia. It was in reference to australian police saliva drug testing drivers.

The guy on the news said that he was going to work, he snorted cocaine the previous night, he was no longer under the influence.

Yes, one of the downsides to drug tests is that they can't necessarily determine if one is under the influence at the time of the test, it simply indicates use of the drug (if the test is accurate) within a window of anywhere from several hours or days to weeks or months depending on the substance.

Hmm.. swim has been prescribed methylphenidate and was told by her physician it did not show up on drug screens as an amphetamine.. any clarification? Swim knows it is not technically an amphetamine although the structure is similar and effects are related, so technically it would be a false positive, although abuse of unprescribed Ritalin would still likely be looked upon as a problem as it is a scheduled drug- anyone have more info on this? Perhaps it does show up but is ruled out on the GC/MS, or perhaps some screens test for it and some do not?
Is Rubifen another form of methylphenidate (as is Ritalin)?
