Question What is your favorite plate? (looking for dinner & dessert) Any amazing recipes?

Please post here and be enthusiastic. I am looking for more variety in the kitchen. Any good recipes or ideas would be appreciated. Looking mainly for dinner dishes and desserts! yummm thanks!

Me and labmonkey are pretty fond of these little dessert delights:

Hello Dollies

These are also known as 6 Layer Bars - because the 6 ingredients in the recipe are layered one by one in the pan. You can't get much easier than that, and they are so good, too. Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups graham wafer crumbs
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand, 300ml)


Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt butter in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Remove from oven, and spread the melted butter evenly over the bottom of the pan.

Sprinkle the graham wafer crumbs evenly over the melted butter.

Sprinkle walnuts over the graham wafer crumbs, then chocolate chips, then coconut.

Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over top of the coconut.

Return to oven and bake for about 25 minutes, until lightly browned on top. Cut into small squares when cooled.

Well I'm always looking for a good recipe. This one makes me have to run an extra few miles a week.

Its called "Puppy Chow." And man its good.

I googled it and I'll just copy the directions and ingredients.

3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
8 cups Crispix cereal
2 cups powdered sugar

Melt the peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter together. Pour over the cereal in a large kettle or bowl and stir well. Pour the powdered sugar into a large brown paper bag and add the cereal. Fold the bag to seal and shake well to coat evenly.

Oh, and if you put hamburger in spaghetti you're an animal. Italian sausage is the only way to do.

You can't do without the classic chocolate chip cookies:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks, 1/2 pound) butter, softened [you can also use Crisco, h.a.]

3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
PAN COOKIE VARIATION: PREPARE dough as above. Spread into greased 15"x10" jelly-roll pan. Bake in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack.
FOR HIGH ALTITUDE BAKING (>5,200 feet): INCREASE flour to 2 1/2 cups; add 2 teaspoonfuls water with flour; reduce both granulated sugar and brown sugar to 2/3 cup each. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, drop cookies for 8 to 10 minutes and pan cookies for 17 to 19 minutes.

I usually don't add the nuts to these but they're really good either way and I'm partial to other types of chocolate chips but I can't remember which one's I liked best so I just kept the recipe in it's original form. Verrrrrry yummmmmy!

I don't know if any of you have had TGIF's Vanilla Bean cheesecake but it is fantastic. This is a close approximation to the recipe they use and tastes great:

CRUST:

1 1/2 cups finely crushed graham crackers
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg yolk, beaten
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Crush the graham crackers. Mix in the sugar. Add the egg yolk and vanilla, then stir in the melted butter. Line a springform pan with non-stick foil. Press graham crackers into the pan. Bake at 375º for 8 minutes or until edges are slightly brown. Remove and let cool.


VANILLA BEAN CHEESECAKE:

16 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
2 Tablespoons corn starch
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
vanilla beans from one pod

Combine cream cheese, sour cream, corn starch and sugar, mix until sugar is dissolved. Add butter, vanilla and beans, blend until smooth. Don’t overmix.
Bake at 350F 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 1 hour.


WHITE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE:

1 cup whipping cream
2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
4 ounces 1/3 less fat cream cheese, softened
4 ounces white chocolate baking squares, melted

In a cold mixing bowl beat cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Put this in a bowl in the fridge. Don’t wash your mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese in it, until fluffy. Add the white chocolate and beat until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream.


VANILLA BEAN WHIPPED CREAM:

1 cup whipping cream
1 Tablespoon powdered sugar
Beans from two vanilla pods

In cold mixing bowl, beat whipping cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and then vanilla beans, beating until stiff peaks form.

After the cheesecake has cooled spread the mousse evenly on top. Refrigerate for about an hour then spread the whipped cream on top. Refrigerate several hours before serving.

i don't have a recipe for this it's some sort of funnel cake with whipped cream, raspberries, a little chocolate sauce and powdered sugar and boy was it amazing.

Ingredients:
4 oz shiitake/maitake mushrooms
1 oz psilocybin mushrooms
10 oz rice (I like basmati)
5 oz your favorite cheese (I like to use 2 oz gruyere, 1 oz parmesan/romano and 1 oz feta)
1 large chopped garlic clove
a bit of chopped red onion
a pinch of terragon, basil and black pepper
1/4 cup dry potato paste
Description:
Cook the rice. If you use non-instant rice, it should take from 30 minutes to an hour. Toward the end when the rice is soft enough, boil off the excess water making sure not to burn the rice. Make it somewhat dry.

Finely dice and boil the culinary and psilocybin mushrooms on low heat, using just enough water to cover them.
Add to the rice cheese (one kind at a time).
Sautee the garlic, onion & spices for 5 minutes on low heat, then add to the rice.
Add the mushrooms (with bluish water! very important) and potato paste at the same time, stirring evenly.
Mix thoroughly and serve. The risotto will be VERY blue and should also be very tasty, covering up the taste of the psilocybin shrooms. A small amount does the trick, since this recipe makes a little over a pound to 1.5 lbs of risotto, and is enough for eight to ten people (assuming an average dose of an eigth oz of shrooms.) You can screw with the numbers to make it less potent, etc.

This is something I absolutely love for desserts and if you like banana you will to.

Bananas Fosters
THE INGREDIENTS 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup banana liqueur
- 4 bananas, cut in half lengthwise, then halved
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream

First you combine the butter,sugar,and cinnamon in a skillet or frying pan.
Place the pan on low heat til the sugar dissolves.
Stir in the liqeur and then place the bananas in the pan.
Now after a while the bananas will start to brown and then soften,this is when you VERY slowly and carefully add the rum.
Cook until the rum is very hot,tip the plate to ignite it.
When the flames subside, lift the bananas out of the pan and place four pieces over each portion of ice cream.
Pour the warm sauce all over the icecream and eat and serve right then.

This stuff rocks

And here's a recipe we made at work all the time...I don't know exact measurements because cooking is cooking -- just eyeball amounts, adjust to your taste, etc..


Steak Diane

-6 oz beef tenderloin cut into medalions
-Small dab of dijon mustard on ONE side of each medalion, spread around
-Heat a skillet with some butter (not margarine) and chopped shallots, place each medalion in the pan, mustard side down.
-After one side is done, flip the medalions and add demi-glace (a brown sauce..I think you can buy powdered versions to make your own), sliced mushrooms, parsley, a little salt, and a little heavy cream.
-Flambé with brandy and let the meat cook to whatever temp. you like

Delicious with garlic mashed potatoes!!

Ingredients:

1 can (14 oz wet) artichoke hearts
2 tablespoons light mayonnaise (you can't taste difference between light and reg)
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup grated cheddar chees
1 small can mild green diced chilies
1 to 2 jalapeno peppers (depends on spicy preference)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375F. Drain the artichoke hearts and cut into approx half inch chunks (note 1/2inch=1.27cm). Drain green chilies and cut up jalapenos very find. Mix half of the grated cheddar cheese and the rest of the ingredients together and pour into a buttered dish (A 9" glass pie dish works perfect for this amt of dip). Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and and bake at 375F for 15 minutes. Serve hot or warm with tortilla chips.
