DXM and antihistamine

If one was to take a antihistamine about 4-5 weeks is safe for that person to have a DXM trip? I read in DXM FAQ that one would have to wait 6 weeks is this true?

Re: DXM and antihistamine

have never heard of that... when swim takes dxm, he intentionally takes hydroxyzine before just to make sure there is no allergic reaction... swim has been known to get hives from all sorts of things, that's the reasoning. it isn't uncommon to have allergic reactions in some form from dextromethorphan though.

Re: DXM and antihistamine

The FAQ says avoiding non-drowsy antihistamines with DXM. This probably only stands for terfenadine and astemizole (both are not on the market anymore). There's a thread of mine in the DXM forum.

Older antihistamines (diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine, promethazine, etc.) are useful to combat some side effects of DXM, but should be used in therapeutic doses.
