http://www.mdlinx.com/urologylinx/ne...le.cfm/1854160
swim never used k, but dexxed heavily for 2-3 years. horrible stomach pain started surfacing a year or two ago, swim stopped almost all use. fast forward to now. its having a burning icepick jammed through your cock and up into your stomach all day. taking even a puff of weed feels like swims insides are dissolving. heavy dissociative can affect more than your brain. be careful Last edited by Paracelsus; 01-07-2007 at 15:51. Ketamine-Associated Ulcerative Cystitis: A New Clinical Entity
Rohan Shahania, Cathy Streutkerb, Brendan Dicksonb and Robert J. Stewarta, aDepartment of Surgery, St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada bDepartment of Pathology, St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Received 18 June 2006; accepted 21 January 2007. Available online 5 May 2007. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science...74c7157212957c Objectives Ketamine hydrochloride is an N-methyl-d-aspartic acid receptor antagonist used as an anesthetic agent in human and veterinary procedures. Increasingly, it is being used as a recreational drug. Recreational ketamine users have anecdotally reported increased lower urinary tract symptoms while using the substance. Methods We describe a series of 9 patients, all of whom were daily ketamine users, who presented with severe dysuria, frequency, urgency, and gross hematuria. Investigations, including urine culture, microscopy, and cytology, in addition to computed tomography, cystoscopy, and bladder biopsies, were performed to identify a relationship between recreational ketamine use and these symptoms. Results The urine cultures were sterile in all cases. Computed tomography revealed marked thickening of the bladder wall, a small capacity, and perivesicular stranding, consistent with severe inflammation. At cystoscopy, all patients had severe ulcerative cystitis. Biopsies in 4 patients revealed epithelial denudation and inflammation with a mild eosinophilic infiltrate. Cessation of ketamine use, with the addition of pentosan polysulfate, appeared to provide some symptomatic relief. Conclusions This case series has described a new clinical entity of severe ulcerative cystitis as a result of chronic ketamine use. As illicit ketamine becomes more easily available, ulcerative cystitis and potential long-term bladder sequelae related to its use may be a more prevalent problem confronting urologists. |

SWIG check this link. Looks like ketamine can cause urinary problems. It probably was not the adulterants used in South China after all. Ketamine needs to be treated with respect. |

Re: Ketamine-associated ulceritive cystitis (K Pain)
Last night SWIM, SWIM's girlfriend, and two of SWIM's girlfriends all took 300mg of DXM (gel caps). One of the girls had horrible pains in her private area for 10-30 minutes (hard to say because of time perception etc.). SWIM and SWIM's gf have dosed DXM over 100 times easily and never encountered such problems and we, being the veterans, discussed what might have caused it. They could not think of anything except maybe MAOI or SSRI she hadnt told SWIM about. She also offered that she had taken some sort of pill from her father's house the day before (she believes it was a painkiller, though honestly SWIM is skeptical). But now SWIM wonders if this could have been it? She went to the bathroom when the pain began to subside and when she came back she was fine again and was fine for the reminder of the night; however she did not continue to party with the rest of the group (marijuana). The girl who was victim to this should be noted as a newbie "druggie" and has only done a small range of substances including alchohal, marijuana, and small doses of common pharms. Any information pertaining to her as far as if she may need to seek out a doctor's appointment to recover etc, would be much appreciated; SWIM would not like her to get ill as she is a good person.

Get help man, seriously. All kidding aside, you need to sit down and speak with someone; even if you already have, and even if you don't want to.

it will go away in time...always drink cranberry juice ...seems once you get that far anything you put in your body is sensitive in your urinary tract afterwards...but it does get better after you quit for a while worst thing you can do is eat painkillers or drink alchol seems to just irritate it...

Re: Ketamine-associated ulceritive cystitis (K Pain)
SWIM looked all over for info like this back when K-pains were a fairly undocumented but extremely painful reality. SWIM isn't convinced that his pains were coming from the blader-region. It's possible as it was a while ago, but SWIM seems to remember the pains emanating from the solar plexus region.
SWIM didn't use K all the time, probably about once ever 2 months on average, but when he'd do it he'd go through about 12+ 10ml bottles over 3-4 days (Intramuscular administration.) BTW, SWIM is fully aware of how rediculous that is so please save your admonitions. Now only after at least 10 of these fairly significant Ketamine binges did SWIM start to experience K-pains. at the end of a run Near the end of his using, he once did 8 bottles in 3 days and did not get K-pains. Any more than that and SWIM was in for trouble. These pains were relentless and the only escape seemed to be sleeping, which SWIM facilitated through benzos. The pains lasted about 3 straight days on average with the third day being not as bad as the first two. Karl Jansen mentions this in his book 'Ketamine: Dreams and Realities,' but at the time there was no notion of what was causing these pains. - Beltane |

Re: Ketamine-associated ulceritive cystitis (K Pain)
Do K pains generally include pain while urinating, weak bladder, and bloody urine (the symptoms described above in this thread)? If not, maybe the cases described above are caused by continued use of K to alleviate K pains, and K pains themselves are just a warning signal.

Re: Ketamine-associated ulceritive cystitis (K Pain)
SWIM never experienced pain while urinating, weak bladder or bloody urine. Just a stabbing, agonizing pain somewhere between bellybutton and solar plexus.
More K would temp. alleviate the pain, but just add to the length of time one has to suffer them once all the K runs out. - Beltane |
