question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
According to Erowid, DPT is completely legal in the US. Does anyone know if this information is accurate? Also, if it is accurate, then why is it hard to find a vendor online selling it(please do not interpret this as me asking about sources, which I know is verboten)? What I mean is, if it's legal, why aren't people selling it? Erowid does not even mention potential risks associated with the Analog Act, like it does for a lot of drugs.

SWIM hopes it was okay that he used 'I' in that post. There wasn't any self-incrim in the post, anyway.

Re: question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
Anything psychoactive in the USA other than EtOH or nicotine will fall under either Schedules I-V or the Analogue Act.
There are a handul of exceptions; salvinorin A comes to mind as it is neither explicitly scheduled nor "substantially similar" to a molecule that is. Bromo-dragonfly would also possibly escape potential prosecution under the Analogue Act as it would test the (intentional) ambiguity of "substantially similar." The DEA agrees, which is why they're moving to explicitly schedule hundreds of PEA's and tryptamines in the very near future. It's interesting to note that many of the chemicals on the DEA shitlist have not been tested in humans (or animals for that matter) and nothing is really known about their psychoactivity. It will be the first time in history that molecules will be placed under control merely because they resemble other ones--a frightening step backwards for mankind and even more disturbing because a law enforcement agency is enacting the control legislation. Of course, such legislation will likely serve only to make teenage Amerika aware of forbidden fruits they previously knew little or nothing about and introduce a whole new generation to Shulgin's amazing inventions. The vendors of these chemicals will move underground using encrypted email/anonymous payment systems and, since many of them exist outside the USA, even more money will exit a country already up to its neck in national debt. In fact, the biggest effect the forthcoming scheduling will have is the cooling effect on formal academic research. It will be much harder to obtain grants to fund research involving these molecules due to both the stigma and bureaucratic incidentals (DEA licenses, etc.) that will result from the event, and so those cutting-edge scientists who are currently working with RC's will likely abandon their projects. And so once again the DEA will manage to shoot Amerika in its foot, and one can only wonder how much longer it will take before this country wakes up and moves to reform its drug laws and terminate an agency that causes immense damage not only to its physical well-being and collective spirit, but now stands to cast a bigger shadow on scientific inquiry as well. With regard to DPT: it's not "completely legal." It indeed falls under the Analogue Act as it is both a homologue of DMT and psychoactive. SWIY could be prosecuted under the act, though it's highly unlikely that would happen unless he was selling the stuff. In fact, the Temple of the True Inner Light is a Christian-based sect in NYC that considers DPT to be the physical manifestation of God and is its sacrament. The DEA has not moved to nail them to the wall because they are afraid that if the temple were to successfully thwart an attempted prosecution based on a freedom of religion defense, it would open the door for Joe Blow starting his own religion merely to get high. For now the Temple is a curiosity attached to Amerika's "drug war" and it will be interesting to see if and how they are affected when DPT becomes Schedule I. |

Re: question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
Thanks for the reply. I suppose it is merely an ommission on Erowid's part not to mention the Analog Act in the DPT entry.
Re bromo-dragonfly: it appears that few people want to take the chance because it's not exactly like the stuff is all over the internet. |

Re: question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
^^^^ Reliable sources for both exist, and SWIM will venture to state the obvious in that research with either must be done in a careful and focused manner.
These aren't "kid drugs" as a look at Erowid's experience reports in the DPT section indicate. |

Re: question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
I think its illegal under two states' legislature^
DPT is considered a sacrament by "the temple of the true inner light" http://psychede.tripod.com/ no doubt if one were to agree to being a large donor they would share some of their eucharist. |

Re: question about legality of N,N-DPT in the USA
They can probably find some loophole to prosecute you if you are caught. I think it's not that available because it is quite an obscure chemical, and it hasn't received much attention as these new research chemicals.
