Cheap balance scales

Hey folks out there I found a cheap balance scale that claims to weigh 10mg-11g and it under CAD$20 (not an exact price I hope this is ok with the rules, and no source). I was wondering if anyone had seen these or ever better had experience with them. The price is right for a small portable option FTR I am not thinking that these would by any means replace a nice dig mg set but it could be good at a party/cottage/vacation/friends house ect you can see how it could be handy to have a portable measuring device acurate to 10mg no?

They are called lucky 11, here is a pic of them and a small desc from the site selling them.

Well, the most important question is how precise it is. It should at least measure in steps of 1mg, else you can’t measure precise enough for RCs.

well it doesn't measure incrimets of 1mg but it does 10mg from 10mg up to 11g I know that 10mg is not quite enuf acuracy for the majority of RC's but there are some that would be fine for ie methylone (which is what swim was looking to use it for) or for a measure of a a slightly higher does where you could use liquid measurements to fine tune the exact dose (swims other use for them) swim did have a cheap mg digi but it died.

So if these were acurate enuf one could use em to make sure that was ordered is correct.

hasn't ordered them yet but is planning on trying them out, was wondering if anyone had heard of them or knows much about em maybe how accurate they are? If not swim will have to wait till delivery and test with calb weights

Well, you're right but if other RCs have to be measured, please buy an accurate scale as it's quite dangerous without (1 or 2 mg more or less can make a huge difference). Nowadays you should find 1mg scales for under 100$, so id go with one of these.

for the 1mg scale swim is leaning towards a tanita or the aculab vic 123 but for the price of these things it is worth it to get a set just to see how accurate they are

No you can't go cheap with scales when it comes to research chems. It must be calibrated exactly to the .0001. So far swim hasn't found such a scale she would trust that isn't oh say under $200 USD.

Swim had a set similar, just right for on the spot weighing. Keeping your dealer semi-honest.

Those were called "coke" scales years ago. Price is about right. But don't expect anything special. They also had a tendency to break. If Swim wants something to weigh a gram on the fly, they should be fine.

They aren't very strong though. I saw a state cop in Massachusetts crush one to smithereens with one try under his boot.

Dope scales are not callibrated correctly or appropriate for research chems imo. They are also as you said very breakable. They basically are made for popping out grams and balls or whatever is sold.

It's true you pay a little extra for 1 mg precision, but if you want a scale to be trooper boot-proof you gotta shell out da big bucks...

check ebay. swims friend got a scale for 17 dollars including shipping which would have originally been over 80 at any headshop.

swim recently got an amazing knockoff milligram scale from ebay. i guess i can't say the price, but it cost practically nothing, even with shipping and a set of calibration masses. this came directly from the factory in china. this balance could easily match a jprecision, for a fraction of the price. i honestly think swim got an unbranded high-end scale.

SWIM also got a great 100g x .01g scale off ebay for next to nothing, shipping was the only thing he really paid for.

Scales generally come classified as tobacco/jeweler scales and are unbranded.

These jewel scales may be cheap but are only accurate to about 5mg. My dragon's experience when weighing chems is that the displayed number will jump around regularly.

indeed swims gem scale is quite jumpy. it works well enough for 2c's and most tryptamines and alright for diluting DOx's but would not trust it for a completely accurate reading. A good introduction scale especially for the financially troubled but not the ideal scale.

Swim is inexperienced with RC's and is having some shipped to him soon (2C-I) and is well aware it's foolish to fuck with anything but a .001 g scale but he has also heard that .002 g scales are more accurate for some reason, is this true?

Furthermore Swim is wondering if a .0001 g scale is necessary to measure out doses as small as 3 mg - 5 mg or would a .001 g scale work just fine?

Swim plans on putting his powder in capsules and would really love some advice as to the best way to do this with a somewhat affordable scale if it is possible at all with a .001 g scale?

That depends on the chem, of course. The *best* .001g balance/scale will only be accurate to +-0.0005g, and an extra 0.5mg can sometimes make a huge difference.
SWIM would trust his mg scale to +-0.0015g, and would thus get a .0001g scale if he wasn't willing to risk an extra 1.5mg in his dose.

To evaluate his balance, SWIM bought some mg masses/weights and compared his balance's readings with those from his university chem lab. SWIM recommends that anyone using a cheap balance also do this.
