Vicodin Nausea... I know you have the answer

SWIMs done hydrocodone twice and both times it ended with th most uncomfortable nausea, SWIM was SOO close to vomitting both times.

But both times it was on an empty stomach, so I'm guessing that is the cause, but right now SWIM wants to do it and he ate lunch a couple hours ago and a snack not too long ago, is that a full enough stomach.

I was also wondering about maybe the effects of marijuana and its anti-nausea attributes, so if he smokes a lttle bowl once the effects have been kicked in for a while, would that help with his nausea

opiates and marijuana have increased nausea for swim unfortunately.

SWIY might be taking too high of a dose. Some people are just sensitive to the stomach when it comes to Vicodin. I sugest SWIY should just lay down on a comfy bed and think of the positive effects. You can also try music while laying down too. Before you know it you will forget all about it and have an amazing time.

Ya but its not during it, I mean SWIM LOVES the high its just when he comes down he starts getting really terrible feeling..

Comedowns are not fun for anything really. Try taking them at night then just pass out or take sleeping pills. Try eating fruits while your on it or after, that might help.

Another count in favor of tayo's post re: APAP toxicity. Tylenol poisoning will typically do this.

swim thinks that the tylenol in it has alot to do with it. if a coldwater extraction is done, pretty sure there is less nausea.

Nausea is a very common side effect from opiates. Strangely enough, unlike other nausea people experience, opiate nausea normally is 100% cured once you vomit. Nicotine was always the worst cause of nausea and vomitting while on opiates for SWIM. Try lowering your dosage if it is bothering you.

The best cure of nausea while on opiates is to just lie down.

well too late now SWIm did it and didn't get nauseous at all and he smoked after and it made him feel better. nicee

SWIM pukes on norcos or vicodins, but usually after a night of drinking at least 4 drinks. Norcos one of the side effects is vomiting...

The best way to deal with this is just not to puke the first 3 hours or so. Let the pills get all the way into your system. In other words, when you feel really buzzed, it means its in your system, puke all you want. Puke on your friends. Just don't puke up drugs. What a waste.

OH goodness I can relate. Swim has back surgury and is due for a fusion, she won't take her pain pills because of the vomit factor. So basically screams in pain, not nice. If swiy never had back surgury, it is the worst pain imagineable and lasts for months. Even with the opiates without the apap, swim gets very sick and still can't take them. It stinks.

SWIM found a product called "emetrol" that would let SWIM take opiates and it reduced the nausea very well. SWIM suggests taking it about 1/2 hour before any opiates.

Swim likes to take 75mg of diphenhydramine (benadryl) or 25mg of promethazine (phenergan) prior to his snack of 40mg hydrocodone, to both potentiate the hydrocodone and prevent nausea. A word of warning- swim finds this cocktail makes the hydrocodone about 30% stronger, so reduce your dose accordingly.

soma you are right, when I got shot in the back in Iraq in 93, They gave swim 100 mg od morphine and phenergan w/it they said it would complement the morphine to help better

Wow, SWIM finds it unusual that so far SWIM has tried vikiton 10-20 times but has only felt the nausia once after taking a hefty amount while cutting the grass (riding lawnmoore) in the intence heat of the summer, (yea i know smart, but SWIM thought it would make the job more intresting). SWIM thinks this may have something to do with the fact that he always has food in his stomach, lol SWIM finds it extremely hard to skip meals.

SWIM use to get nauseous from Vics and hated them. phenergan or benadryl can really do wonders with the nausea, give it a shot.

Doubtful, thats not a typical symptom. However, there are probably environmental causes such as what you've eaten (less nausea if you've eaten), if you are moving, if you've taken antihistamines, etc.

all the methods mentioned so far are crap compared to laying on your back. simple as that lay flat on swiys back dont move swiys head, within 5 min swiy will be feeling fine again. swim has done this and it works. actually in yoga after all the excersizing and endurance positions, natual opiates are released in the body and you can get very neasous if swim dosent lay on his back. laying on the stomach makes it worse. swiy will feel the high better too.

Potent H-1 antihistamines are diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and promethazine. when swim does opiate syrups with either clophenairamine or doxylmaine in them he still gets very neasous. swim also likes to walk around but at the doses swim gets nauseous at(25+mg hydrocodone) he finds it to be a buzzkill to walk around. its like it distracts from the high. swim prefers to lay down and listen to guided meditation mp3's and feel his body sink into his bed. those guided meditation tapes are crazy as it is but with 30mg hydrocodone thrown in... WOW.

SWIM has a high tolerance, he could dose 60mg without nausea. Has SWIHooda tried eating something substantial prior to this ingestion? Things like bread tend to make the trip easier on the stomach. Also, the syrups speak of do contain antihistamines, so they may have some effect in negating nausea, but not the power of diphenhydramine. However, SWIM wouldn't suggest you add diphenhydramine to the mix, as it may cause a little too much anti-cholinergic action to SWIY's body, which is REALLY not fun. Hear it from a SWIMMER that knows. Too much antihistamines = bad.
