Mumbling drunken buddha
Monkey used to consider himself somewhat of a buddhist back when he was into such things. Now, while monkey isn't too into the whole religious type thing any longer he still feels that every philosophy that's worth catching peoples attention for a few thousand years is bound to have a few worthwhile points to it. One point of buddhism that strikes monkey as applicable is the lesson of transience. "This too shall pass" as I'm sure we've all heard in some form or another.
Well, monkey is thinking that this is especially poignant if you happen to be a drinker. Why? I'm glad you asked. Think, if you will, back to the many lame arguments you've gotten into. How many of them involved being drunk to some degree? Yeah, monkey has had his fair share of stupid drunken debacles as well. So here's the point, if we can by any stetch of imagination call it that: if you are going to be drinking and having these moments of oh-so-justified indignation, you should definitely hold close to the teaching of transience. Because there are very few things worth making a big deal of or worrying about in this life, and even fewer worth being unfreindly toward someone you've known and been close to. So always be ready to let these heated moments slip through your fingers like dust into the winds of lame passions, knowing that being "right" is never worth a shit. And that is monkey's random thought of the night. h.a. |

Re: Mumbling drunken buddha
Useful strategy also this Buddhist thought, for manic episodes? ;-)
Random Thought: The worry, the moral (superego) harrying us at times ... these are tools. Use them to help direct you to better paths: if they begin to hinder you rather than help, cancel them. Too many people wound up, worshiping the echoing voices of these modules. Let it be ... Last edited by eltimmy; 27-06-2007 at 06:35. Reason: clarity |
