Swim recently went on their first trip with sally. Very strange, to say the least. Swim thought there were people standing next to them that weren't there and could here voices. Slight loss of balance, also, it looked like there was some kind of writing on the carpet. Swim tried grabing at the "writing on the carpet" before they relized, "what the hell am I doing!" It was kinda cool, but mostly weird. Does this sound normal?

P.S. swim was waiting on some silly mushrooms to kick in at the same time, so that may have been a contributing factor, but who knows? Swim smoke it again the next day, but didn't get exactly the same effect. kinda hard to gague. Any feedback?

Probably would be easier to judge SWIY's experience if not for "waiting for silly mushrooms to kick in". The "silly mushrooms" create a very vivid and disctinctive experience by themselves! But SWIY's symptoms of confusion, loss of balance, and sensing the presence of vaguely defined entities sound within the realm of a normal salvia trip. And SWIY will, in fact, find that salvia does something different almost every time it is used... SWIM has tripped off it a dozen plus times and still never quite knows what to expect. It is indeed a weird substance!

Can SWIY please tell us specifically what kind of salvia SWIY was taking? As in, was it smoking extract or tincture, and was it 5x, 10x, 20x etc.?

Seems like a normal Salvia trip to Swim, nothing more. If the mushrooms had kicked in, I think you would know it, big time...

Swim was tripping on morning glory one time, and nothing much was happening, just that interesting psychadelic feeling and some slight distortions. He smoked a small dose of 6x extract, and all of a sudden the Salvia goddess (or something like that...) herself just popped up... except she was a giant truck with a face and the word "market" written on the side of her.

Swim then lost all contact with reality. He says he felt like he was on the end of a cosmic paintbrush that was creating the world... he claims the colors and shapes he saw were unbelievable, like nothing else ever, even other Salvia trips (and he's had some crazy ones). Then he started turning into a large variety of objects. Definitely his strongest trip on anything, yet it only lasted a minute or two. After that, the morning glory trip was in full effect, and he felt like he was surfing on the music that was playing. Certainly a fun night. Combinations can be very intense, and certainly very noticable.

swim tried it (5X, btw) a few more times w/out the presence of shrooms and didn't really feel anything. Swim didn't use a torch lighter, so how big of an effect will that have?

Well, its always variable... its hard to guess what effect you will have each time. But Swim can't stress enough: use a torch lighter. Yea, sometimes Swim gets lazy and doesn't want to find a torch lighter or run out and buy one, but for extract, its a requirement. A bong helps a lot too, as does setting. To0 much light and noise takes away from the experience. The best trips occur in total darkness and silence.

When SWIY gets into higher extracts...the flame of a normal BIC lighter will cover the material easily. A torch is good because it vaporizes more material faster, as the extract gets higher, the type of lighter SWIM believes gets less important (SWIM smokes his tiny infused papers with and w/o the torch, makes no difference, with leaves it does).

Because 5X isn't that much of a jump from plain leaves (unless SWIY is sensitive, it's quite a jump.....but SWIY is not), so a torch might make a difference. First try all the basic techniques such as quiet place, holding it in for a long time.....etc. Then think about higher extracts....but don't jump into it, make it a last resort.

Swim very much wants to experience salvia but alas..he has yet to.Swim doesn't have much of an interest in psychedellics.He has heard salvia is more like an out of body experience and gives more reallistic dreams than opium.Is that a decent way of describing it?

For Swim, it has little in common with dreams. It is its own very unique experience. Out of body experiences are certainly very possible though.

In alot of the salvia reports swim reads people have contact with vague and strange entities.Swim is not sure if this would be cool or terrifying.When swim used alot of ambien(zolpiderm)one time he was talking to as what would be best described as shadow people out of the corner of his eye.That might sound somewhat scary but these beings were not threatening.

Entities are in almost all of Swim's experiences. Only twice have they truly been angry, but Swim kept his cool and realized it was only hallucinations. Other times they have either just been neutral or were actually happy to see Swim. Sometimes they are vague and sometimes they are well defined and like to talk... As long as Swiy is in the right state of mind, and doesn't take too high of a dose, it shouldn't be freaky.

Yes when swim does decide to do salvia he is definitely going to take preparations to make sure his day is as happy and as stress free as possible.Would it be better for swim to have a few friends around? This usually keeps him in good spirits and swim is thinking it would make the trip much more pleasant.Swim has read some salvia experiences that sound radiantly beautiful and this is what swim wants.

Friends are good to have around in the lead up to the trip, yes. Swim feels that doing it with no one around before or during creates a strong sense of being alone, sometimes to the point of feeling that no one else exists.... certianly not pleasant. When its time for the actual trip, perhaps have just one sitter, and do it in the dark with no noise. Swim says Salvia is very powerful, yet fragile. Any distractions from the real world can dimisish the experience.

And yes, using a jet/turbo/butane/whatever you want to call it lighter works the best. Use one of those, along with a bong, try to take as much in one hit as you can, and hold it in for 15 seconds or so. Should work like a charm.

Swim would most likely play music during his salvia experience,swim always finds that music adds to drug experiences.Perhaps though with salvia its better to not have music?

Yea, probably not. It seems to be rather distracting. Swim once had the letter K (wearing pajamas, no less) sing him a Tool song. Not as fun as you might think... it was a bit too weird, he says. If you must, use something that has a more calm, ambient feel to it, and has no lyrics.

Swim usually listens to pretty dark and ethereal music,perhaps this wouldn't be a good idea for salvia?Hearing things like singing letters and the like is what makes salvia seem so interesting.It sounds different from a traditional psychedellic but different from a delerient aswell.

Perhaps Swiy should give it a go without music first, then experiment with music. Maybe it will work for Swiy, eh? Every person is different. Salvia is certainly interesting, but only fun for Swim in low, plain leaf doses. The full trips aren't fun for Swim. Not saying they are horrible for him either. It just doesn't have that built in good feeling many other psychoactives have.

It is very, very different from psychadelics, and very different from deliriants too. Swim is very clear headed and is able to think in an ordinary fashion, yet crazy things are going on behind (and sometimes in front of) his eyes.

This is why it appeals to swim so much,its new and uncharted territory,completely different from anything else he has tried.Swim has tried pretty much everything out there and wants something new and interesting.Swim is also going through some hard times and he wonders if perhaps the right psychedellic might give him some insight on how to deal with things.Would salvia be good for that?Swim knows that the experiences aren't that long but hears they are pretty intense.Swim wonders if it is possible to have a life changing and helpful type of insight in such a short time?

yes can be very enlightening. keep in mind your issues, and the choices that these problems are leaving you with.i find salvia makes answers obvious and afterwards i know deep down i knew the answer all along.
I agree, music is excellent on L.S.D, i know cos i have a fiend who's pet monkey told me he loves it.
salvia on the other hand is better if you are still and it is quiet, music very very confusing. and swiy will unlikely be able to turn it off or explain to sitter to turn off.
A tripsitter is essential for salvia. the monkey has been a sitter on many occasions and says he has had to hold people down (to stop them from harming themselves) or simply to take bong from swiy's as often there not sure which dimension to put the bong back down in!
oh an also sitter may help explain what has just happened and why swiy feels like that. monkey has seen many people not know they have used salvia just moments later

for SWIM's first date with Sally...SWIM found a website selling 1 oz of Salvia Divinorum for just under $30. SWIM was wonderin, will he need an extract instead cause he keeps reading about the 4x and the 40x and so on and so forth...but SWIM barely see's anything about straight up Sally D.

SWIM will prolly be smoking with a friend. and from SWIM's experience with cannabis, SWIM's not a hardhead at all.... but SWIM's friend IS. sooooo... would it prolly be best to go with a 6x or a 10x?? and if so... how many grams do you think would be a wise purchase for possibly 4 people smoking Sally D. the options are 1 gram, 3 grams, or 10 grams. thx a bunch for the help guys/gals

First of all, SWIY will not in any way be able to tell if SWIY is a hardgead or not. Cannabis and salvia act compltely differently.

1 gram of 10X is enough for 4 people. About 1 tenth of a gram is a typical moderate/strong dose.

6X, SWIM would reccommend as a start, since it's weaker. SWIY could have a full blown trip off of 6X, and 10X can be too strong. There is no way of telling until SWIY tries it.
