Busted on Drug Test for Speeding Ticket

So I go to "traffic court" today to pay a speeding ticket. The judge elects to give me a drug test due to prior offenses of underage drinking.

The drug test was to decide whether I would recieve driving priveleges or not. I told the judge I would fail the test but he required me to take it anyway.

Before actually taking the test (pissing in the cup) I was searched and a razorblade was found in my wallet. I failed the test for cocaine and marijuana just as I told the judge.

I was sent back in to see the judge and he placed me on probation, house arrest, and further suspended my license from 30 days to a year.

I now have to take random drug screens and am put back into the court system.

I would just like to know if they have a justable cause to do this?
I was drug tested for a speeding ticket and when I failed I was placed on probation and house arrest.

Why did SWIY have to go to court for a ticket? Whenever SWIM has gotten one, he simply mails off a check.

I wouldn't say it is okay but I'd like to know if what they did was legal or not.

I was not on probation when I went to court today but afterward I get slammed because of a positive test for a speeding ticket.

I think you've answered your own question mate - prior for underage drinking + newly qualified driver + speeding + failed drug test + a potentially tenuous paraphernalia (razor blade, I'm guessing without razor, & potentially the need to shave) = having the book thrown at SWiY, no matter how honest SWiY was before the judge. Unlucky, but there ya go.

In many US states, agreement to a breathalyser upon request is part of the "contract" that goes along with getting a license. My houseplants suspect this could easily be extended to include a non-invasive drug test.

you can deny the breathalyser in SWIMs state. you just get your license suspended for like a year and a half though. it depends on SWIY's situation, it might beat a DUI or a situation like this. i assume SWIY was drunk when SWIY got pulled over?
