Re: Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs, author says
If David Walsh doesn't explicitly state what the performance enhancing "drug" is then it's difficult to draw any meaningful conclusions. There is a fine line between performance enhancing by elicit means and legitimate means. Professional cycling (in my humble opinion) places unreasonable demands on the human body. It is not possible to expend *that* much effort consistently day after day like they do in events such as The Tour.
My only qualification to comment on this is that in my own lowly way I have represented the UK internationally cycling so I have witnessed, first-hand, the fit, the super-fit and the unbelievably fit. Either way I have nothing but the utmost respect for champions like Mr Armstrong. Mere mortals (like the rest of us) cannot comprehend the effort that winning (at the top level) demands. Klaatu |

that's the thing, even with performance enhancing drugs... you have to perform and put effort in, steroids don't make you gain muscle if you don't work out. he still did a sh*tload of work, and must be addicted to cycling.
