Re: What do you know about these herbs?
cannabis ergot?
was that supposed to be separate like... *cannabis *ergot never heard of that one together. and Brugmansia (angel's trumpet) has potential to kill you or make you a dellusional schizophrenic for 3 days and not have a memory of it. just read all the terrible experiences with it... search the news, some guy chopped his penis off with yard-work scissors (those giant clippers that swim can't remember the name of) |

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
ergotism is a no no, fungal infection in your body, makes you looney, and a theory behind the salem witch trials is that they thought they were possessed but they'd developed ergotism from eating ergot infested rye bread. ...
ergot can contain precursors to several lovely psychedelics if extracted... but isn't an "herb" on it's own at all. |

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
i did some research yesterday on some of the herbs.. The only safe one i really found was Iboga.. Yage i guess doesn't exist.. all the googles i did was turning it up as sage.
wow on that penis story though... damn... i think those scissors your referring to are hedge clippers.. all i know is when i do trim hedges, those are the ones i use... and they are pretty powerful to cut thru anything... i've cut thru some pretty thick plant/tree trunks with them... so a penis would be nothing to those... if mandrake is poisonous, why does the smart shop sell it here? the herbs they sell are for teas and wicca use, but i've seen mandrake up there... |

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
the mandrake root has germanic roots into legends... check out wikipedia "mandrake root" that would explain wicca. and yeah iboga and cannabis are the only two of what swiy listed that could have recreational value on their own.

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
Isn't yage just another term for ayahuasca, as used by amerindians?
SWIM thinks peyote and morning glories are meant to be quite safe if used responsibly, although you could probably get ergot poisoning from MG's if you use too heavily. Or is that just Hawaiian Baby Woodrose? |

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
Yage is another name for the vine Banisteriopsis Caapi, it might be used as a term for the brew Ayahuasca, but I'm not sure.
Iboga is not necessarily safe unless one knows what one is doing, NEVER MIX WITH OTHER DRUGS OR MEDICATINONS. It is used a lot for treating addiction and for very transformative experiences from what I've heard. I am not aware that there are many experience reports about recreational use of it. As to why smartshops sell Mandrake? It can be used to make a protective amulet or incense. And some people just want to make money. The "safety" of a drug/herb can be influenced by many factors; dosage, method of intake, impurities, combination with other drugs/medication, set, setting, etc. |

Re: What do you know about these herbs?
As mentioned earlier, there are threads on almost all of this stuff, and some of the substances you listed have their own forums! UTFSE and if there is no thread for one of the substances you would like to enquire about you can create a new one. This thread is all over the place.
