is drunkenness a psychedelic experience?

Would anybody here classify being drunk as a psychedelic experience?

Out of all drugs that alter your consciousness, some are psychedelic and some are not. I've been trying to formulate an official definition of "psychedelia" and what I've come up with is this: psychedelic drugs are those drugs that alter your consciousness by altering what you perceive to be reality, whereas non-psychedelic drugs are those that simply alter how you feel (mood, energy level, etc.).

SWIM's always felt that alcohol fell into the latter category. But then there were times when SWIM was so pissed out of his tree that it started feeling a little like weed (short-term memory not working, everything feeling "unreal", not being able to pay attention, etc.). Also, caffein and alcohol in combination puts SWIM in a state in which amazing insights (or what he thinks are amazing) come flooding into his mind much like while blazed on pot.

Anyway, what do you think? What category of consciousness alteration should alcohol fall under?
