This film follows the evolution of house music from its birth in Chicago to the myriad of diverse music it has since spawned.

Born out of the ashes of Disco, House music was destined to change the world. This film follows that progression from the underground to the mainstream through countless interviews from the people who made it all happen. Not limited to what we call House music today, it includes the birth of all of the major genres that were born out of it; Acid, Techno, Trance, Drum & Bass, UK Garage, and many more.

I wish I could appreciate house music but I just never could get into that thump,thump music.I like my music dark and atmospheric or nihlistic and vicious punk and goth all the way for me I'm afraid.

You can find dark sounding house music, but its more common in other electronic genres. Tribal House can be particularly dark sounding, but if you aren't into electronic at all it can be hard to acquire a taste for it. It took MDMA for swim to discover the beauty of electronic music, he actually didn't care to look into it before his first experience with the drug.

The Creatures,Siouxsies newer band do have some electronic music but it is certainly not house and it is very dark at times so I don't despise all electronic music.Just the kind that is giddily happy and obviously made for people to just dance to and not think about the more painful things in life.

Anyways, I'm just splitting hairs here. I love House music, and the funkier the better. If anyone here likes House music they should check out this doc, if you don't like House music or electronic dance music in general you can probably miss it.

Ahh I have some mp3's you would love! A friend o mine produces his own shit and sent it out to ninja tune and the responce was some thing along the lines of "This is the best stuff we have had to tur down" "it is a little out there and we are not sure we have a genre that it fits specifically" Nice to listen to a hometown talent too.

The painful things in life are generally more interesting or even more interesting the painful things in life and transcending them no matter how ugly they get.Yup sorry I probably don't get house music.

Thanks - I just watched the whole thing. It was probably a little longer than it needed to be, but it was pretty interesting. And I added a few new cd's to my wishlist. Actually, I already ordered the cd "Timeless" by Goldie, which was new to me. It seems like it will be great based on the sample tracks in this film and on Amazon.

In a similiar vein "Maestro" is definately worth a watch,a speel from the site:

Yeah, Maestro is a great flick. It focuses in more on the NY House / Garage scene, but has some amazing footage. The one problem I had with it, besides a somewhat limited scope, is that there isn't nearly enough music in it.
