LSD and Nitrous Oxide. Poking at the fabric of reality.

SWIM arrived at a Psytrance party looking for acid and had no luck. (Please see the 400mg On A Tab thread).

One thing SWIM thought about LSD, is that it's not as seeped in 60s-style/loud-coloured Psychedelic visuals as I thought. My LSD experience is like the new version of Dr. Who compared to the original series. More stylish, more of designer drug with certain motifs and themes consistent throughout each experience. (Psychedelic circuses and plasticy/video-game type visual distortions.) It seemed like everyone had humungous pupils and their foreheads bulged back in a Photoshoppy Bulge filter effect. Subtle, but it gave him the sense that a lot of people he was speaking to were Human/Alien hybrids. Chemical Starlight Children.

SWIM wishes he could draw well enough to express those visuals. It's almost like comparing the new version of the Disney Channel to the older, more outdated aesthetic. Whenever he closed his eyes he would see psychedelic, colourful geometric patterns that are so prevalent in psychedelic-culture fashion and design. He wonders if it's a chicken or the egg situation. Is he only seeing these shapes in CEVs because he's seen them hundreds of times in LSD inspired art and clothing deisgn, or are these hallucinations common to all LSD users? Is there a startling realisation that someone before you has managed to harness their visuals and apply it to art and you're looking at their raw inspiration with anyone else, or is it exclusive to SWIM?

Still coming off the A, so he's quickly going summarise two intense parts of the trip. One was encountered with maybe his third N02 balloon, but it was a theme that followed through to all of them. (7 more)

Here is an attempt to explain the effect of N02 and LSD at a high dosage. Please express whether you've thought the same of this phenomena. It's taken SWIM a lot of time to write, and many trips to N02 land to remember what needs to be written.

The "truth".

The white light, the peak, the high frequency squeal that rushes past, pulling a smile across your face with the visuals of huge, toothy smiles duplicating themselves around your vision. That feeling that the beat of the music is speeding up to a crescendo, while in fact it’s an auditory hallucination.

Sound rushes to an insanely high frequency at super speed and it feels as if time has slowed down to a nano-second. It sounds as if the blaring music in the background’s beat is speeding up to an enormous climax, while in actual fact it’s at the same tempo as before you hit the laughing gas.

You try beat-matching with the DJ…Trying to time yourself so perfectly to the climaxing break that you can pump a fist in the air not even a fraction of a nanosecond away from the beat exploding into a huge crescendo (Your peak breaks as the DJ drops the beat.)

It’s as if you’re moving in real-time, but the world around you is going super-super-slow. You can look around, hear and see what each person is involved in: one group is doing this, these two are talking about that, this group is mingling with that group, these people are trying to do the same thing as you. Matching your flamboyant movement with the break of the beat’s climaxing crescendo. You want to walk up to them and ask them if they’re successful in their efforts, and then you realise these things aren’t actually going around you, it’s just that second of the NO2 peak being stretched into minutes.

The sound hallucinations start rushing back, like an elastic band that’s been stretched and then let loose…It feels like time itself is suddenly speeding up to its normal point and everything slowly moves from freeze-frame, back into real-time and it seems as if single second has been frozen for what seems like eternities.

You feel as if you just did something spectacular, absolutely awe-inspiring in front of everyone but at the expense of snapping your mind into permanent psychosis. You hear the faint “Do it again! Do it again!” and wonder what exactly it was that you did.

During the direct aftermath you could be terrified into thinking that a lot has gone on (or is even still taking place) around you, hours even years of events are going on around you and you can’t escape that frozen second. This sensation will eventually fade away and you’ll become fully sane. But not before thinking how simple (or incredibly insane) that combination of effects is and how you’ve worked it all out…

The key to pleasure.

There is a feeling of cleansing, intellectual release. A feeling of euphoria travelling along your brain’s reward pathway

It is the reward of solution that brings us such pleasure, and while thinking this, you let out a little laugh at how simple it all is.

But here is the real, universal truth. Here it is guys, you’re seeing it first here! The meaning to the universe is:

It’s different for everyone.

It would take years to try relate the epiphanies you’ve experienced in a split second and why bother? That feeling that every single event of your life had just lead up to that exact moment. That snapping, shocking feeling of realisation that everything you've ever experienced as a human being has just led to that exact moment. That overwhelming sense of de- ja-vu (that extreme feeling of close familiarity with everyone around you that brings thoughts of euphoric friendship included) that feels like it will drive you insane. All of these emotions, hitting you like a truck in under a second.
Know what I'm talking about?

Probably not.

Because these epiphanies only hold relevance to you, they only mean something to you, someone else will be bored by your rambling. It’s another, insanely complex part of YOU, you’ve just discovered.

The answer to everything is simply: Know thyself.
Discover yourself and you’ll discover the universe.

If anyone should ask you to try describe a +3 psychedelic experience, you can tell them so much more by simply saying: “It’s different for everyone”

(That was all gathered from one fleeting moment at the bottom of a balloon)

The second intense episode was SWIM's father phoning him at 4:30am because the electronic door-bell kept on ringing and he wasn't sure if someone was trying to break into the house because the CCTV was scrambled. Imagine how shitty this must sound to someone peaking on 250ug of LSD.

SWIM wasn't sure if it was all a hallucination, or how long he'd been speaking to him. He told him to phone the police (gave him the number - from memory - of the nearest police station) and told him to keep in a safe-place and not go outside till the cops arrive. It wasn't fun. He phoned every 30 minutes till the police had patrolled and left to make sure that everything was ok. It was just a malfunction. SWIM believes this was a traumatic experience that will stick with him for awhile.

He is home now, at about +9h on the LSD and can sometimes zone out into a vivid mental scene of hearing the scared voice of his father through a gurgling phone while in the background his dog barks and he hears the whine of the door bell continuously ringing. He also has that strong sense of de-ja-vu, that similar events had happened previously in his life but they had all just been building up to that moment of him arriving home to find his father dead and being locked in a permanent psychotic state.

Definitely not a nice thought, and a lot more intense then he can express in words (But then again, read way up about his views on a deeply personal trip not holding any relevance to anyone else and having no inter-personal value at all.) However the emotions involved feel buried, as if he's uncovering a long buried fear of his father in a vulnerable state, totally spiritually emasculated. he'd like to confront this.

Hopefully he'll be given the opportunity.
