Re: Can it be smoked?
there are reports of coca leaves being smoked in shamanistic ceremonies in the Amazon basin, however this is probably purely ritual act, as smoking or vaporizing coca leaves has no psychoactivity. concentrations of active alkaloids are low and smoking just doesn't release like this.
however, an extremely crude freebased extract of coca leaves, a form of vegetable leaf paste left over from cocaine extraction procedures called "bazuco", extremely contaminated with solvent, is smoked by workers of illegal cocaine extraction facilities. extremely unhealthy, and with effects comparable to weak freebase. but simple leaves, no, in swim's experience. b Last edited by Benga; 15-06-2007 at 21:06. |

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
swim's friend tried it and said they felt a buzz from something, there are alot of alkaloids in cocaine though, the tropane alkaloids, like cocaine and atropine, if smoked in a joint for instance.. it is possible that some of the cocaine could be vaporized for some effect, definitely not more than chewing an equal amount of leaf, though.

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
swim never felt anything from smoked leaves, smoked or vaporized.
swim thinks that if this mode of use was really effective it would be more widespread, considering how far back in time coca use goes. b |

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
well they don't contain much cocaine by the leaf anyway.

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
SWIM has tried smoking pulverized Coca leaves from a teabag, but experienced nothing but teary eyes, dizinness and a coughing fit. One would achieve the same effect by inhaling burnt cellulose.

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
i am going to try and find the actual site but i seem to remember there being a site that advised against vaporizing (volcano specific) coca
the only times have tried smoking coca it was in conjunction with another method of administration but it always seemed to add something to what i already held has everyones tests been with more than one way of taking it at a time? |

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
Swim had another neat experiment... possibly a placebo, but Swim thinks their is real effects...
Swim took (7) 1 gram tea bags and rolled them into 7 individual joints. Both Swim and his friends smoked these while jamming and strongly believe swi(us) felt the effects. Swim agrees and knows that their is a very low concentration of cocaine, but believes the other alkaloids played a role. Swim would compare it to a few cups of coca tea. He has done this on a few occasions in replacement of tobacco. - BearClaw |

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
SWIM rolled up a doobie with coca powder and a touch of baking soda and definitely felt some mild effects.

Re: Can Coca Leaves Be Smoked?
well, mild in the sense that inhaling smoked material does produce an form of reactions.
really, the low alkaloid concentrations in leaves, plus combustion mechanism, make it highly unlikely that much would make it to the blood stream that way. a crude extraction would work, a vapourization a better path, but not imo rolling up coca leaf powder and smoking it. usually when such a simple mode of use has not developped somewhere traditionnally, it's highly likely that it doesn't work- Salvia divinorum being one hell of an exception to this. as previously mentioned, smoking coca is mentioned in ethnological litterature, in the Amazon basin, but this is mostly for symbolic / ritualistic purposes. b |
