Re: New here...
Yes, Welcome Twissy. Do keep the rules in mind.
There is a helluva lot of information here, and if you are looking for like minded people, I am sure you will find them here. I was under the impression (erroneous, I suppose) that doctors didn't prescibe Oxycodone in the UK. Has that changed? |

Re: New here...
Yup, it is available & prescribed in Britain just not that often. It is indicated for moderate pain in cancer patients, post-operative pain & severe pain, & according to the BNF is mainly used in palliative care.

Re: New here...
Mick beat me to it, but Jatelka, Our resident Queen of Knowledge had this to say
" Oxycodone is frequently prescribed in palliative care settings in the UK. It's available as Oxynorm. It comes as a liquid or as an injection. It's become more commonly used since diamorphine became less available (initially because of a flood at the factory producing it, but now I think the "War on drugs" has taken hold and the UK is moving towards the US in it's prescribing practices). Mostly, for chronic pain, the opiate of choice is Morphine, either as MST or as a preparation called ZoMorph" |

Re: New here...
Checking the BNF Oxycodone IS also available as the brand OxyContin in the UK.
SWIJ has never come across it though |
