Codeine+CYP3A4 Inhibitor

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...=2199&catid=24
According to this report a man almost overdose on a small dose of codeine when his ultrarapid metabolism was combined with a 3A4 inhibitor! Grapefruit juice is a 3A4 inhibitor and barely any 2D6. Here is some scientific backup that grapefruit juice WILL potentiate codeine. The most promising was the amount of morphine-6-gluc he had in his system which was quite outrageous.

Re: Codeine+CYP3A4 Inhibitor

lol, I dont know if I should feel bad because of the guy or happy because of the empowered metabolization.

Basically, these are the antibiotics the guy has taken that helped Codeine->Morphine metabolization instead the Codeine->Norcodeine metabolization:
erythromycin
azithromycin (Zithromax, Zitromax)
clarithromycin (Biaxin)
dirithromycin (Dynabac)
roxithromycin (Rulid, Surlid)

Do you think its worth it to take some of these antibiotics with grapefruit juice to potence Codeine? anyone has an idea how much of these antibiotics one should take?

Re: Codeine+CYP3A4 Inhibitor

Shouldn't matter because both substances are doing the same thing. I think grapfruit juice supposedly inhibits 3A4 pretty well. It might explain some good codeine experiences swim had while taking azthromycin though.

Re: Codeine+CYP3A4 Inhibitor

swim normally does not even get an itch from codeine below about 200mg but is taking one of those antibiotics and is getting an itch from otc doses of codeine and dihydro, almost worth being infected for
