Mouth Abcess - Smoking seems to ease the pain

SWIMs needs a toothout next week due to there bein a slight abcess and swims going through a shitload of pain right now, but swims noticed that smoking seems to 'ease' the pain a bit but he is wondeirn if he doing any fruther damage or anything?

I know this aint a dentist forum but hey :P
