Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
SWIM has owned a single fluid ounce bottle of sage goddess emerald essence for 5 months. SWIM has used it three times, 3 drops his first, 6 his second, and 2 his third. Aside from a drunken body high, SWIM has had no success.
3 months later when SWIM had a clean system and had not drank for over 5 weeks, he tested out the salvia again. This time he used only 4 drops directly under the tongue, 2 at a time, and 7 minutes a piece. Beforehand SWIM had taken two Tylenol PM becaused he planned on going to bed after the experience. While on the first dose SWIM choked and got a bunch in his lungs. But carried on strong. It was during the second dose that he couldn't remember if he still had the tincture in his mouth or swallowed it. That's when it struck him harder than a sledge hammer on his pinky toe. Time completely stopped and he felt twisted in a maze of inner spiritual turmoil. He stood up to get out of this mess but found his feet were locked to the moving floorboards that quickly turned to quicksand! SWIM fought desperately against the deadly sand. He found no use trying and quit squirming to find out the quicksand realeased him. He sat back down in his chair just to go through the most intense head trip of his life. At this point not much can be documented. SWIM entered a period of catatonic despair. "I" cannot be said because SWIM felt he was no longer a being or that anyone was a being. He knew that he was a force...a spirtual force with no physical structure and so was everyone else. After 10 minutes of spiritual bliss, SWIM felt physical again but for only brief periods of time. He fell into a deep paranoid psychosis that left him unable to fight for himself. SWIM was hearing people outside talking about him. The cops coming to the door to have him hanged! And let me make very clear that I said hanged and not hung! He tried to run and hide in another room but had a hard time moving and fell twice. He got out his phone and tried to maneuver his fingers dilligently along the keypad to call a friend. Through the vicious struggle he made headway and hit the call button. Each ring seemed like a minute in hell and finally his friend had picked up. (SWIM would strongly like to make a note of the difficulty of conversation while under the influence) SWIM tried to tell his friend what happened but could not make out the words. He laughed so hard and his voice sounded so cool! Like an aboriginal didgeridoo! He forgot of the conversation and continued to make strange noises and laughed until he realized his friend had hung up the phone. After 5 minutes SWIM settled down and went into the fourth stage. A frightening frenzy of anxiety and panic attacks. SWIM finally realized he would not get out of this. His life would always be like this. Poor SWIM. Or wait, maybe he was no longer alive. Maybe he died! Perhaps the combination of the salvia and sleeping pills caused his brain to melt. What happened next is foggy. SWIM went into a battle with himself over whether he was thinking or speaking out loud and could not recognize the difference. SWIM also felt he could think about two seperate things at once and be able to notice how each level of cognition moved merrily down its seperate path. SWIM started to get pains on limbs he didn't have. (This was one of the weirdest experiences.) He had pains 3 feet above his head a foot outside each waist. He tried to rub his waist but it was no use. To wrap up the whole experience SWIM would like to point out the whole trip lasted 30 minutes and then tapered off to a bareable level for another 30. SWIM believes he did too much because he could not close his eyes without the feeling of "truly losing himself" and falling into a comatose stage. It was just too intense to handle. After fighting the pain of his invisible limbs SWIM put on some music and ate a bowl of kix and drank water to calm down. He had trouble swallowing and believing he was in reality but eating and drinking quickly started to "ground" him. Might SWIM also point out that this was a very intense trip with its own unique feelings and phases. Although the experience was quite different than smoking salvia, it felt a lot better! It seemed just as intense but in a different way. It was more smooth and beneficial. As compared to LSD, it doesn't compare. Two different drugs with minute similarities. The tincture however seemed more similar to true LSD than the smoke. SWIM will admit to LSD being more of a visual trip drug with more ground in reality. Salvia is more of a mind trip with NO ground in reality. But they are both about equally intense in their own ways. LSD just lasts a lot longer and seems more enjoyable. Thought SWIM would share this information with everyone. It seems no one could get effects with tincture but finally SWIM has struck gold and prefers the tincture now, looonnggg before the smoke. |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Wow, this is great news!! Seems like there is hope for tinctures. Most people don't have much luck on tinctures (like SWIM's self, SWIM is a hardhead, and feels he will never get a decent trip off of tincture).
However, SWIM is glad it worked for SWIY. Tinctures are much healthier...well...maybe it could effect the underside of the tongue after prolonged use, but it's healthier than smoking for sure. |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
It is wonderful to know the tincture can work! SWIM only knows of one other person who had a breakthrough experience with the tincture. SWIM believes having a clean system is beneficial and not drinking alcohol anytime before the trip makes it possible to break into salvia land with the tincture.
SWIM is going to try again without Tylenol PM and without choking to see if it makes a difference. Somehow SWIM thinks these two factors could have made a difference but he will find out and document the experiences once his tongue heals. Tinctures are healthier and better than smoking if it works but it is hard to really breakthrough as everyone knows. If anyone does make it, they will notice the experience is very different than smoking, a little more similar to LSD but yet so much different as well. SWIM is proud to assure hope with the tincture. When it works, it is definitely worth the price! |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
SWIM tested out the tincture again hoping for another breakthrough. This time SWIM started with two drops but was hesitant to put in 2 more because it set on fast after 7 minutes. He put in one more drop for probably and waited for probably 5 minutes but it was hard to tell the time because SWIM's mind was drifting away.
After the third drop SWIM still had no visuals and so he tried 2 more drops but just couldn't contain them in for very long. (SWIM's tongue was totally fried and started to feel pieces in his mouth.) All in all it was a rather uncomfortable experience. SWIM just didn't want to move and it really hurt to move and think about reality. SWIM did get a good head trip but it was nothing like the last time. This experience reminded SWIM of taking bad mescaline in a bad mood but without the duration. SWIM never broke through and got a very slight open eye visual with moderate closed eye visuals. SWIM did feel pretty close to "leaving" two times but never made it. Either SWIM was just not in the right mood this time or he didn't do enough. Or perhaps the Tylenol PM or choking on it did have an effect. Any ideas? Anyways SWIM doesn't have much left. (Estimate about 6 dropper loads) He is not sure how to use the rest up but hopes to experience the tincture breakthrough one more time. SWIM is also curious about any possible effects from smoking the tincture. If some of the tincture is left in a cold area, such as a refrigerator, there is a sticky residue that forms and seperates from the alcohol. According to Daniel Siebert, the residue contains most of the Salvinorin A. So SWIM immediately thought of opium and wonders if it is possible to scrape this residue in a pipe and smoke it. Not that there is anything wrong with just purchasing extract. But SWIM is just curious if anyone else has thought of this possibility. There is a lot of Salvinorin A in the tinctures. |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Has swiy tried diluting the tincture before consumption? It may be harder to achieve a breakthrough as you would need a higher quantity of material, but it would certainly be easier on your toungue! Just a little dilution may be a good thing in this case, before swiy damages his mouth!

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
SWIM tried diluting for the first time with what he had left. It was MUCH more pleasant on his tongue with barely any burn at all! SWIM never took off though. He has had it with the tincture experience. Each time after the breakthrough it got worse and worse and the last time SWIM just felt like he died. It was just a mental pain to even try to blink let alone move any muscle.
One thing SWIM has picked up and would like to share about his experiences is that while under the influence of the tincture, it hurts to be touched in anyway. It is just very uncomfortable. SWIM tried to take a warm shower during the peak of his last attempt but the water felt like tiny needles digging into his back. So SWIM experimented by massaging muscles and it was nothing but a painful nuisance. Being touched felt extremely uncomfortable as well as just moving. Anyways SWIM is just going to go back to smoking after he takes a lonnngg break. It is so much easier and less painful. |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Could it be taken in a manner simmillar to acid such as in a sugar cube or on blotter paper?

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
It would probably dissolve the sugar cube and you would need too much to fit it on blotter paper.
The best way I think would be to dilute it somewhat, just enough so the alcohol doesn't burn off your toungue but not so much that you need to gargle a litre of tincture in your mouth to feel anything. Dilute it, then use a dropper to release it into your mouth and absorb it and repeat as necessary until the effects start building up to the extent that you want them to. |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
It is very possible to make blotters with salvinorin A if it's a good extract. I'm not sure just how well it works compared to tinctures and smoking though.

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
I know you can do it with salvinorin A, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work with a tincture without extracting the salvinorin itself. I think thats what he was asking, about the tincture and not the possibility in general.

Then how about an IV or IM route?

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Thanks for the very interesting trip report, CaptainofCrush... SWIM realized he has never tried the tinctures, and never thought much of them. But some of these trip reports make him quite curious. The possibility of a salvia trip with a bit more gradualism and duration to it could certainly be attractive to at least experiment with.

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Yeah IVing/IMing salvia tincture sounds like a bad idea. It's mostly alcohol! Wouldn't that burn like holy hell, among other problems?

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
I don't know, but maybe a very concentrated tinkture could work. I mean you can easily put 2 or 3 drops on a regular square blotter. I think it might be possible to do it.

The tincture is made with alcohol to help with sublingual absorption.

Hey Guys.... Check out the Alcohol Vapors and Salvia Divinorium Tincture use Thread. Interesting information concerning the use of Dry Ice/Alcohol Vapors as a medium of transfer of active ingredient of Salvia.
Lets get some discussion about this way of usage started..... |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
1. Considering that the "big problem" with tincture is keeping it in your mouth and not dissolved by saliva and down to the tummy...plugging? Yes, dilute it, but hopefully it'll stay put, and bioavailability should be better, as it'd (literally) have an uphill battle to get to the tum-tum.
2. Considering the "cost per mg Sal-A" disparity between tinctures and leaves, plus the fact that alcohol burns, why not chew? Even if less efficient WRT bioavailibility, it may be more efficient moneywise. 3. If SWIY's gonna get in the habit of vaping alcohol...ventilation? Particularly if SWIY goes deep into sallyland... |

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
SWIM had her first run in with Sally this morning and it was no beautiful dance. SWIM mixed 3 dropperloads of emerald goddess tincture with 2 dropper loads of water as per directions for a mild/ moderate waltz. Before hand she brushed her whole mouth gently and rinsed with a menthol/alcohol based mouth wash (SWIM found this recommendation somewhere on the forum). Swim placed in mouth and attempted to hold it under her tongue. That lasted less than 60 seconds and she had to spit out ball of fire. Has SWIY used the tincture with success in other ways? Maybe the brushing and mouthwash were to blame. SWIM sees that SWIY has some trouble with it, and wondering if anyone had any other suggestions than mentioned here. If SWIM put some on a cigerette (no access to weed) how much and how long to dry?

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Wait, what is 10X tincture...that makes no sense.
Second of all, the bad news about tincture...swiy has to man it out. It's hard (some people think it's fine) but overall it's painful. The good news is it lasts only about 5 minutes or so, then it becomes numb and just becomes pretty bad-tasting. Hope this helps. Sal-A |

Question: once SWIM meets sally, is she fairly easy to get in touch with after that?

Re: Salvia Divinorum Tincture Success!
Not necessarily. My neighbor the next planet over from me found that even after a serious breakthrough with salvia it was still somewhat hit or miss, with dud experiences afterwards depending on setting and supply. His most profound trip occurred early on and he has had difficulty matching it.
And many people have a very difficult time getting good and decisive results with tinctures... my Venusian neighbor has never had a successful trip yet on them (only tried a couple times and pretty much gave up in favor of smoking). |
