Hi ,I am really hoping someone will be willing to help me out a little. How would one dry out say a 6-12in. p. torch cutting? The first experiment failed. that was 6inches of torch, cubed, cooked lightly in lemon juice and eaten. nada ..nothing..nill. Soo,I was wondering (and noo just cant drink the snot Im sorry I tried) how would drying one be accomplised? preferably dried to grind into a powder. any inputs greatly appriciated thanks!

Re: advice for drying torch cactus?
please try not to incriminate yourself in your posts (im sure the mods will mention this....)
6" is a small amount. around 12" long x 3" diameter is a good starting point.... but be aware that alkaloid content varies from cacti to cacti (depending on genetics and growing conditions) so one could need a little more or little less...but 6" will almost always be disappointing. as far as drying it, i'm not sure...SWIM never bothered he just cooked it down to a managable amount (about 2 shots worth) but i am sure you can find the answer here with the search engine. Re: advice for drying torch cactus?
SWIM has always had wonderful luck slicing them thin (1/8"), placing them on a tray and blowing a fan over them. They will usually dry up within a day. Then SWIM does an acohol extraction on them, caps 'em and downs them. No nasty taste, no upset stomach, no drinking down a cup of snot.
