Store's Control Over Nitrous Cartridges

SWIM has encountered a little difficulty in purchasing nitrous cartridges lately. There is only one store in SWIM's city that carries nitrous cartridges (a wholesale-type grocery store), and he never had any problems purchasing them before. However, the last couple of times he's bought cartridges he's had a bit of trouble at the door. They have an employee who sits at the door and hole-punches receipts as shoppers leave. The last 2 times SWIM has bought cartridges, he has been asked if he owns/works for a business. Dumbfounded, SWIM replied "no" and got a dirty look. He gets informed that the sale of nitrous cartridges are only available for businesses (even though they are in plain sight on the shelves and available to be picked up by anyone). They still let him leave the store with them, but was told that they wouldn't let him buy the cartridges anymore ( both times ). It's not like it's a big deal, it's just kind of a nuisance.

SWIM is curious to see if anybody else has had any trouble in purchasing nitrous cartridges. He realizes that businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone, but doesn't there have to be some kind of obvious suspicion (for instance, someone who reaks of pot and has blood-shot eyes trying to buy nitrous cartridges AND balloons while wearing an "I Love Drugs" t-shirt)? SWIM suspects that the only reason they hassle him is because he is relatively young, has a beard, a couple piercings, and shaggy hair.

Either way, SWIM is probably just going to look into ordering himself a bulk supply of higher quality nitrous cartridges anyways. They'll last him a long time because he doesn't indulge too much these days, but he does like to keep some cartridges on hand.

That's horrible. SWIM just buys them from his local headshop. They're very helpful.

Tell SWIM to shave beard and print a T-shirt of a fictional catering company.

It really seems like the store's policy. Maybe buying some cream with the chargers would help.

SWIM was actually thinking about wearing his old work shirt from a pizza place that he used to work at. It doesn't have any logos on it, but it's a standard white, button-up cooking shirt. He could have also grabbed a couple hairnets from where he used to work if he really wanted it to look authentic. But that would be way too much trouble. Like SWIM stated, he may just end up stocking up on cartridges that he buys online. They're cheaper and he'll have access to 16 gram ones.

SWIM actually did consider buying some cream with his purchase, but he just ended up buying the cartridges alone again to see what happened this time. For curiosity's sake and a feeling of annoyance towards the door employee, SWIM even asked her where he could buy nitrous cartridges in the future for personal use (whipped cream of course), because he didn't know of any other store that carried them. She just stood there with a blank look on her face for about 10 seconds, trying to think of something to say. She eventually just repeated herself, saying that they're for "business purposes" only.

Like SWIM said, it's not a big deal or anything; it's just a nuissance. The store obviously has a policy to regulate the sale of such products.

Actually swim dosen't even have the checker's at all of his local stores. But the one's he did encounter were dumbasses, they didn't really seem to have much knowledge, thus didn't even ask. They are the type of people who knows about something obvious like - claritinD in large amounts - and thats about it.
