Alcohol consumption by nation. Where does your country rank?
Good work lads. B)
Alcohol Drink up Jun 12th 2007 From Economist.com LUXEMBOURG glugs more than 15.5 litres of alcohol per person in a year, more than any other country. One explanation is that the duty on alcohol is relatively cheap in the tiny nation, encouraging booze tourism from its more heavily taxed neighbours. No such explanation for the Irish, however, who quaff 13.7 litres a year, according to the World Health Organisation. European countries, with their cultural acceptance of alcohol, tend to dominate the top places. In America, where stricter minumum-age requirements apply, the average person drinks 8.6 litres a year. It's the same with weed though, isn't it? The only nationalities that I've found to smoke more than Irish (when you're just looking at those who smoke) are black. And this is despite the fact that our country generally has the worst quality of hash I have ever come across.

Apparently soapbar is still around alright, but swim hasnt seen it in over a year id say. Most people have upgraded to green at this stage. |

I wonder if that includes underage drinking in the US? That could probably knock them up a few ranks.

Re: Alcohol consumption by nation. Where does your country rank?
Wow, I'm rather suprised the US is so low down there. I would've put us near the top, considering how many alcoholic adults (and heavy drinking college kids) there are around here. My friends can also put away quite a bit of brew. Must be because there is nothing better to do here in this crappy county than get drunk and stoned. As many heavy drinkers as there are here, I suppose we also have more than our fair share of tea-totallers that bring the average down.

LUXEMBOURG?! How can Luxembourg possibly compare to the Irish when it comes to drunken rowdiness? This is unacceptable. That does it. I'm to buy out all the stock in my local off-licence. That should boost our numbers a bit.

Re: Alcohol consumption by nation. Where does your country rank?
It's a financial centre and major tax haven for all surrouncing countries, which are all bigger economies. However, evading taxes is not as easy anymore because Luxemburg has to comply with EU regulations - one of the reasons Switzerland won't join anytime soon.

Re: Alcohol consumption by nation. Where does your country rank?
In both nations people tend to wipe their asses with toilet paper also. I think that may be a huge contributing factor. Certainly moreso than Catholicism.
