Brian Jonestown Massacre
Anyone know of or like this band?
If you aren't sure, you can get all of their music for free from their website! The downside is that its in .ogg format, so unless you want to get VLC media player or something I'd just convert the files to mp3 format or whatever your prefered format would be. As to songs, I'd recommend: Who!, Prozac Vs. Heroin, Vacuum Boots, When Jokers Attack, A New Low In Getting High. I haven't listened to all their music so I don't know whats good especially, but I think alot of their songs are appealing, particularly after smoking a bit o' ganja. They were also featured in the documentary DIG! with the Dandy Warhols, though it didn't paint a very empathetic picture of Anton, the head of the band who can be rather erratic at times. Anyways, just give it a listen if you have time. I mean, its free so why not? Last edited by ~lostgurl~; 18-08-2007 at 12:52. Reason: prefix |

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
There is a documentary on BJM that is pretty good. It shows how destructive force heroin in the lead singers life and how he pretty much destroys the band even with his exceptional talent( he plays a rediculous amount of instruments). He has even been compared to John Lennon and other greats but seems doomed to failure because of his behavior. The film is Dig! and I would strongly recommend seeing it esspecially if you like their music.

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
I watched a clip on YT, where he is arguing with someone on stage with him and then they start fighting, security is called in to break up the ordeal, his guitar is broken, and he says the blood on him is from other peoples' faces.
I thought that the music was ok, not going to run out and buy any of their stuff anytime soon. KBLSD was the one who pointed me in their direction a couple of weeks ago, I did enjoy watching them fight

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
As he put it he is BJM. He is impossible to work with which is why labels dont pick him up. He is the definition of a sociopath which has him forever doomed for failure.

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
The BJM are pretty amazing, but as people have said, while DiG is worth watching, and is very entertaining, Ondi deliberately made Anton look bad, using clever editing

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
I've been listening to em for awhile now, since I saw DiG about a half year ago. I love em, I love Thier Satanic Majesty's Second Request, Bravery Noise and Repetition, and Thank God For Mental Illness the most. Spacegirl is a nice little collection too, shows a lot of great ideas and concepts anton never quite was able to develop more on in their early career.

Re: Brian Jonestown Massacre
BMJ has some great music; DiG catches Anton at some bad times, but he is still seems like a lot. he plays from the heart
