Re: Permafry

i suppose that depends on what you mean by "permenant trip". some people get hppd (sp?) or minor visual disturbances after repeated pschycedelic use (halos around lights, tracers, etc) but for many people, this will eventually subside. this is a far cry from being on a permenant trip though...the crap you hear about someone dropping acid and spending the rest of thier life thinking that they are a glass of orange juice is a bullshit scare tactic.

Re: Permafry

It is possible for a major psychedelic to bring to light a latent psychosis. Hence one should read as much as possible about these drugs - from reliable (non-government) sources. And be aware of one's own personal demons.

But just taking a hit of LSD and tripping forever is a crock of shit.

Get it straight - these substances are NOT toys. They are serious drugs for serious exploration. If you get drunk and stoned and go to a party with people you don't know and someone offers you some acid for the first time in your life - don't do it. Period.

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

Jux is right on about HPPD, LSD is terrific at never quite leaving your head all the way.

SWIM took many psychedelic drugs this year. Now SWIM's visuals don't seem to plan on going away for a while, but he it isn't "tripping". SWIM's roommate is really fucked up from too much LSD.

SWIM has a crackpot theory but one not completely without merit, we're all tripping forever in our own perception of existence, and the peak of LSD allows us to say... redirect that perception in a semi or even wholly permanent way.

SWIM's first LSD experience was with a truly catastrophic dose, and the visual distortion and mental effect didn't subside completely for months.

The other day SWIM and a friend were in the art gallery looking at a van gogh that's passing through, one of some houses and a beautifully painted row of trees. SWIM said "looks like LSD", SWIM's friend said "maybe he was just insane" SWIM said "maybe LSD just feels like insanity, oh wait, it does", and much laughing proceeded.

Maybe SWIM is schitzo and LSD brings forth psychotic tendancies/feelings in SWIM, but SWIM doesn't think so...

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

Swim never had any negative effects on acid, not before, on it, or after.

He looks upon it as a kind of treat for the mind.

ALTHOUGH you don't want to take it lightely.

He has never felt disturbed or mixed up from acid and he really really REALLY belives that these drugs are not negative or positive on their own. It is what YOU make up of them and it is how YOU treat them.

BUT, as he said, don't think lightely about it.

NOTE, these are SWIMS opinions, just his freedom of speech. no scientific research or something

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

SWIM has also heard of this nonsense. If you took a lot of acid im sure it would last longer maby a little longer but nothing much. Some people acually had the balls to say that you needed to add rat poison to LSD or you wont come down. Now a doc chem on the other hand. A day at most, and thats the longest I've ever heard someone trip for.

Also if you where in a never ending trip you wouldn't be able to fall asleep.

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

Yeah the permanent trip is actually HPPD "Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder" Needless to say, it is not a trip, it's a big problem that acid can trigger in some people, moreso if they take a big dose when they are very young.

Other people can suffer depersonalization/derealization episodes after acid use.

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

if you're staying permanently in that LSD state of mind, a doctor would classifiy this as schizophrenia, SWIH thinks. so if you develope schizophrenia and HPPD, than you could call this "tripping forever" in a weird way.

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

my monkey came in through my bathroom window last and told me that based on his experience, those visuals and thoughts will mostly go away in time...it might take a few years but it will go away mostly...then, my monkey said he actually began to seriously miss it.

Following that logic, Budgie and most DF'ers must be blind by now then!

Sounds like another scare story to Budgie.

Re: Permanent trip from LSD?

SWIM never experienced any problems from lsd but mushrooms caused swim to start trippin during the hangover from alcohol. this could be because swim took shrooms the last time after a night of heavy drinkin. this has luckily ended but it last over a year and a half. SWIM had racing thoughts and things seemed to be in slow motion and there was strange paranoia which was terrible to deal with.
