don't do it, you were perscribed zoloft for a reason, so you should
probably take it for that reason...though if you really want to, use
the search bar to find out more, I have seen other posts about this
with various anti depressants...

snorting anti-depressants have no recreational value. i mean, you might
feel a little something from snorting it, but you would feel the same
from snorting any substance... sugar, whatever. just don't do it! not
smart, not good for you, and it won't produce any euphoria.

Re: Zoloft

Dont snort the zoloft, it has 0 recreational value. however, if one is looking for a high just by popping a few, it will work. But not much and has major reprocutions. First it will give the user a massive stomach ache, followed by vomitting for a few hours. And then the hallucinations will kick in. But the entire time the user will have a stomach ache and a headache so the user cant even enjoy it. On top of top of that one would have a really hard time falling asleep for the next few days. So, if a high is wanted.... look elsewhere. Zoloft is no good for abuse.

Effexor has no recreational effects whatsoever, they are anti-depressants, take like a week of taking them to kick in.

ya, effexor, or any other anti-depresent whether it be an SSRI, Tyriclic, or MAOI's(with the exception that MAOI's can be mixed with phycadelics to increse your sensitivity to them), have no recreational value at all. so dont fuck with them unless your looking to treat long term depretion.

^^ Effexor doesn't actually fit into any of those three categories of anti-
depresents you listed as its an SNRI. That said the answer is still the
same, it has no recreational value.

Tell your pet not to do it. It has no recreational potential whatsoever and it can be dangerous. Use the search engine. This has been covered before.

fluoxetine basically takes a week to kick in, it's an SSRI.

This is a common misconception. Although it can take some time for any antidepressant effect to take place, physical effects (nausea, agitation, restlessness, increased anxiety due to overstimulation) can often be felt long before.

Not much more to add really. If anyone can give any labrat's experiences, please add them, otherwise this thread gets closed tomorrow.

Neither recreational value or therapeutic will be had from insufflating (snorting) Fluoxetine or any other of this class of drugs. None.

All that will be gained is a sore nose & potentially a very short lived but probably unpleasant stimulation.

Last call for experience reports...

Well, the dosage will need to be modified. But swim dosen't reccomend it at all! ANY antidepressants are SERIOUS. Your doctor will tell you everthing you need to know. And please don't think of using antidepressants as recreational.

Ha, people sometimes misconcieve the actions that anti-depressants take on the brain.
Once, a friend of SWISven stole his roommate's zoloft and snorted a pill and a half. The entire left side of his nose and face swelled up and upon appearing at class he was sent back. Haha.

Re: sniff fluoxetine(prozac)

Swim just doesn't understand why some people are just sooo desperate that they are going to do things like try to snort SSRI's?These things have no recreational value and can do some very nasty things in high doses. These people could just go to the grocery store and get nitrous oxide, dxm,or diphenhydramine.Things that do have atleast some recreational value and are not quite as dangerous as overdosing on something like wellbutrin or prozac.

Re: sniff fluoxetine(prozac)

To be fair, "recreational" is always just the personal opinion of an individual seeking an enjoyable experience. That said, it is indeed a stretch to try and imagine what someone would find pleasurable about these substances.

SWIM does find it interesting that dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition are usually perceived as recreational, but serotonin reuptake inhibition usually is not.

Recreation with these substances is actually a high risk.Sure wellbutrin is said to have a stimulant feel if snorted in high doses but it is also said to be able to cause seizures and things that just aren't recreational at all unless you consider the emergency room and a stomach pump fun.

Re: Sniffing Effexor rx

Err, Venlafaxine (Effexor) is a SNRI - Serotonin & Noradrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor, not a SSRI or a Tricyclic. Interestingly, it is a Bicyclic phenylethamine derivative also (or was it the other way around?).

From observation it's noradrenaline action is what kicks in first, which is what gives it that speedy edge, the serotonin action kicking in at the higher doses & after titration.

This is not a medication to be trifled with. It has been known to cause seizures, severe problems with blood pressure (monitoring is recommended), heart rate - both tachy (increased) & brady (lowered) cardia have been reported (until recently ECG's were required in Britain before commencing this drug), Extra-Pyramidal symptoms, anorexia, increased anxiety, Serotonin Syndrome when in combination with other serotonergics...

The boost in adrenaline happens quite quickly in Venlafaxine, with many of the nasty effects happening early in therapy - effects often being felt within days rather than weeks. The same is actually true for many of the newer antidepressants. Remember that most of the people taking these drugs are deeply depressed so will not feel the effects fully until later than someone with a mild depression or no depression at all.

One final note before closing this thread - antidepressants are not toys. There is no recreational value to be had from them. Seriously, kids.

(P.s. - don't sniff drugs - drugs smell bad, mmkaayy??)

P.p.s. - Wellbutrin (Buproprion) is a SDRI - Selective Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor - not a SSRI. It was the first of the reuptake inhibitors to be be developed & marketed, as far back as the late 60's if memory serves)
