Oral ingestion of Research Chemicals in gel caps vs. swallowing raw powder
The first couple of dozen times that SWIM took various RC's, he ingested them in raw powder form, either by putting the powder on his tongue and washing down with water or mixing the powder in a small amount of water and drinking it. He wanted to get familiar with the taste of each one so that he would have at least some idea of what it was supposed to taste like.
After getting familiar with the taste of various RC's, he saw no more point in taking them this way (plus some of the tryptamines tasted disgusting), so he started putting the powder in gel caps and just swallowing the capsule. To SWIM's surprise, this new method of ingestion seems to have more of an effect on the experience than simply adding a few minutes to the time of onset. SWIM has found that the same dose when taken in a gel cap does not seem to be as strong as when the powder alone is swallowed. Has anyone else noticed this? SWIM thinks it may be because the gel cap causes the chemical to be released over a period of a few minutes instead of all at once, and this is affecting the intensity of the experience. |

Re: Oral ingestion of RC's in gel caps vs. swallowing raw powder
Probably has something to do with sublingual absorption as well, in a capsule all of it hits the stomach acids... as opposed to some of it being absorbed in the mouth and then the rest hitting the stomach acids and mao's and histamines in the stomach, which like to break things down. Probably the best method would be to keep powder in mouth as long as possible and then when absolutely necessary, swallow.

Re: Oral ingestion of RC's in gel caps vs. swallowing raw powder
swim has noticed that when taken raw, most Rc's kick in alot quicker then if taken via gel cap. However it is quite difficult to bear the chemical taste for long especially with some of the more bitter compounds. Swim is quite fond of snorting tryptamines as the intensity seems higher and it is a much faster come up however. The unpleasant burning sensation that phenethylamines have is not present with tryptamines and from swims experience he expects this to be a benign practice.

Parachuting it (putting the powder in a little peice of tissue) will still allow the chemical to kick in as quick as swallowing the raw powder would and you dont have to taste that vile stuff.

Re: Oral ingestion of RC's in gel caps vs. swallowing raw powder
Probably the order of speed of onset is: (1) powder/ fluid, (2) "parachuting" or "bombing", (3) gel caps.
In terms of ease and pleasantness, the order is reversed. Some tryptamines really taste vile. |

SWIM seems to have noticed this as well. Although it's hard to be sure as the first experiences are generally going to be the best ones anyways.
