Q: about Focalin XR

Whenever SWIM snorts some dexmethylphenidate, his whole body feels numb. His face, arms, and legs all get a kind of tingly feeling (lasts about 1 hour) and whenever he stands up quickly he gets kind of light-headed and his vision gets somewhat grey (effect lessens over 1hr). He has an inhalor for his asthma, but since it eventually goes away, he never needs to use it. ALSO, he types much slower and in general, becomes slower-it takes longer for him to respond to things verbally. He also becomes very clumsy, and as a result of such, is forced to move slower.

He's done ritalin 4 times and gotten the same effects. This was his first time with dexmethylphenidate. He makes sure he drinks plenty of water. He's wondering if this has to do with high blood pressure though. He thinks he may need to get tested for hypertension. It doesn't happen intensely enough to worry him, but he's curious: is this normal? Anyone ever gotten similar effects?

Please excuse the blabbering, he's still a bit high from his initial hit (40mg) 2 hours ago plus another (20mg) about 30 mins ago. Idiotic btw SWIM should've done that dose the other way around.

Also, he's wondering: Does the fact that it's *-XR affect the absorption, even when snorted?

1st- It may not be a bad idea to go to a supermarket and check your blood pressure at one of those free machines. However, sensations such as this can be caused by the constricting of blood vessels in your extremities that amphetamines are noutorious for. If this is the cause, then its nothing to worry about. However, it would be best to check it out further. My kitten has had experiences such as this.

2nd- So long as SWIY has crushed all the beads in the tablet, it should function like regular Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) minus about 5-10mg.

swim gets this as well on 40mg, but more tingling in the fingers and toes, and the numbness in the side of his head. If the sinuses are spic and span, he gets major brain numbage and loves it. always tingling though. Can't relate to the sluggish aspect of the post. Always focused and with it, really with it. Focalin is too good, damn beads.

Like posted earlier swim always swallows crushed up 20mg, then snorts 20mg about 20 minutes later. Seems perfect.

SWIM doesn't get anything like this, he just feels the same erratic, speedy way he always does after 70mg or so.

SWIM would do roughly 40 mg of Focalin XR, but he would never get this feeling. The only part of it he would really like would be the first 15 minutes of it, when you get that big mind boost. Then he would feel like the rest of the high would be terrible. Dry mouth, insomnia, loss of appetite
