Health - LSD and depersonalisation disorder: Wise?

Hey all, SWIM was going to do LSD with a friend of his this weekend. The first time SWIM'S friend did it he was with SWIM and SWIM got a very close up idea of what it is like. SWIM has one consern though, SWIM'S friend says and others say that it is not like a marijuana high (before your tripping) but SWIM is still worried because SWIM has depersonalization disorder and had an intense panic attack with Marijuana and all of SWIMS depersonalization problems and now after trying it many times found SWIM cannot do it ever again. The thing is SWIM knows his mind is just linkning the experience with marijuana (because before that SWIM loved weed and did it alot) So SWIM is wondering, will this have any similatites to weed and should it be a concern?

SWIM know one thing weed and LSD is not the same thing by a long shot...

if so.. i would not recommend LSD.. it's one of the heaviest trips you can find..so be carefull..

i personaly think watching someone tripping or tripping in SWIMS own head is ALLOT DIFFERENT!
do not underestimate LSD SWIY!

LSD is absolutely NOTHING like marijuana. If SWIY has mental health and anxiety issues it is highly recommended that SWIY does not use LSD. Marijuana and hallucinogen use have been cited as precipitants of depersonalization disorder so it is quite possible LSD use will only exascerbate the situation. SWIY should reconsider his weekend activites.

im pretty sure someone with no mental health issues can develop depersonalization disorder after taking LSD type drugs..
sometimes these may subside with the effects of the drug, but not always.

I find weed and LSD only comparable in the fact that they both generate very weird and almost random thought patterns...However, LSD just makes those thought patterns about a zillion times more believable and vivid.

Swim has bad anxiety and panic attacks from weed but he refuses to quit. He's now in 2 minds whether to try LSD or not. Swim was thinkin about equiping himself with some of the ideas from this thread: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29721 to calm his anxiety and pull himself outta the trip if it gets real bad. Swim knows it might b a bad idea to try LSD when suffering from anxiety but he thinks it might actually help him overcome it in the long run.

What swiy must remember is that cannabis is psychedelic....a mild psychedelic (depending on dose) but a psychedelic none the less. LSD is an extremely powerfull psychedelic. If swiy gets anxiety on cannabis it is very likely swiy will experience the same with LSD but to a larger extent.

Swim will give an analogy to try an get his point across properly :

Cannabis and LSD are both in the same ball park....but cannabis is like little league baseball while LSD is pro standard major league.....same game..... but on entirely different levels. Dont know if swiy is american but hope swim gets his general point across.lol.

LSD is nothing like dope really, THC gives more physical effects than acid and the hallucinogenic effects are totally different. LSD gives notable obvious perceptual hallucinations.. everything is doing something it shoulden't be, morphing, swirling etc.. the hallucinogenic effects of THC are hard to describe, it is a psychedelic but not in the same way as acid..

if you smoke weed and want to try something stronger LSD can be great, mushrooms as well, but it's not like stoned at all. also anxiety attacks can come on due to the physical effects of THC, not the psychedelic effects.. LSD should have less physical effects than THC. if ya follow mah drift..

Anxiety due to the physical effects of THC and not the psychedelic effects? Anxiety is a mental thing and not a physical thing , i dont understand what swiy is talking about.

Perhaps a physical stimulus can cause someone to start thinking in a bad way hence causing anxiety but the anxiety is in the mind, not the body.

Also when swim take's LSD the physical sensations are FAR more noticable than that of cannabis.

I have known people who smoke cannabis to get anxiety attacks brought on by the change in heart pressure that THC gives. I was unsure whether this would happen with LSD, as the physical effects are very very minimal for SWIM, virtually 100% of the effects are psychological.
wheras getting stoned can be very physical (dozing off, apathy )

Agreed. SWIM has never done LSD before but SWIM has done cannabis and SWIM has an anxiety disorder (I take 75mg of sertraline). I think one of the main reasons weed could be anxiety-provoking for some is the fact that you can't really grasp the concept of time and you're more intoxicated in a mental way. But if one is on LSD, they probably would be able to much more easily recognize the fact that they're under the influence of something because of all the visuals.

I could be completely wrong though..

Another thing - anyone that hasnt experienced bad anxiety or frequently panic attacks cant possible know what anxiety is or feels like

No, im not sayin you dont no what it is, its not up to me or any1 else to decide that. Its your body, your the only person who really knows if you have anxiety or not, another way of puttin it is your the only person who knows wot it feels like to be you (dunno if that made sense but it sounded right in my head )

I dont think its the way you perceive time when smoking weed cos ketamine totally messes time up and swim's never been anxious on ket. Swim thinks its the fact that cannabis is stronger than it's made out to be, its a very stong drug in its own way. When swim is stoned, he tries to resist it so that he doesnt look too fucked, swim thinks this is whats causing the anxiety for him.
