tramadol, seizures & eating disorders?

swim knows thus that certain drugs with heightened seizure risk like buprupion are extra dangerous if one suffers from eating disorders. swim seems to think it was bulimia that was the most dangerous but it was not recommended for any eating disorder patients.

does anyone know whether there is a similar issue with tramadol?

(swim has recovered from anorexia several years ago so it's probably OK but swim is mainly curious in general.)

Re: tramadol, seizures & eating disorders?

somewhat off-topic, but your question made me wonder...

how many "recovered" anorectics/bulimics go on to instead get a chemical addition?

just pondering...

Re: tramadol, seizures & eating disorders?

SWIJ imagines that the rationale behind not taking drugs which lower seizure threshold if one suffers from an eating disorder relates to the likelihood of people with an eating disorder having a metabolic disturbance which could also lower seizure threshold (EG: Hypokalaemia from frequent vomiting).

It could also be related to low body weight: Bupropion, certainly, reaches higher plasma concentrations in people of low body weight.

SWIJ would imagine that this is only a consideration in people who have a current eating disorder, or are currently of low body-wieght.
