Re: Young Kid On LSD
swim had seen this video before. To him it's pretty typical of the impregnation that can happen when mixing a somewhat charismatic guru in the semi-closed of experimental community that was Millbrook.
You get a feel for it when reading accounts of the meeting between the whacky Kesey gang and the Millbrook folks. Sure the timing wasn't right, but it's not only due to that and of the group's radically different ways of taking LSD. Millbrook had a strong religious vibe to it. As to pedo-psychedelia, there's even scarier, kids 6 or 7 given LSD in some irresponsible hippy families. Once saw tripping and cannabis smoking kids on a video about a festival in the 70's. Until swim saw it himself, in a teknival ( european techno gatherings). Kid under 10 from a traveller family tripping on acid, picking up and dropping a hammer for 45 minutes before swim's eyes. not one of swim's best memories. tried to talk to the parents but they were too far gone, and it wasn't the best time, a tribal setting, everyone sipping on a bottle where quite a few blotters floated. the spiral tribe ( or psychiatrik ? not sure) or a similar group also had an initiation ritual which consists ( consisted ?) of overdosing people and playing mind-fucks with them. By overdosing swim means giving them more than a good swill of liquid acid, or the tab-spiked drink. They'd be tripping as well, but the whole thing was to initiate the person by breaking them with a lot of LSD and pushing their mental limits. then the person would be part of the tribe. it does resemble initiation rituals where hallucinogens are used ( yopo ceremonies etc) except the strong ritual setting and guidance is replaced by "mind-fucks", ie destabilizing pranks, playing with the "novice"'s feelings and emotions...a sort of mental scarification if you will. quite dangerous and not respectful if you ask swim, but some of these hardcore traveller tribes do have a no-future punk vibe to them, which leads to such uses of psychedelia... back to kids and LSD, swim thinks it's easy to imagine probelatic consequences of attacking a personality which hasn't reached a form or maturity / relative stability. b Last edited by Benga; 03-06-2007 at 19:37. Re: Young Kid On LSD
Interestingly enough, breaking someone down mentally just to the point where they would suffer a complete breakdown but before they do is a good way to prepare someone for brainwashing. They will listen to and belive just about anything you say at that point, as US POWs in the Korean and Vietnamese wars proved a number of times.

Re: Young Kid On LSD
I think in one way its a good way of showing really how set/setting and expectation may play a role in a trip. Those kids most likely never had to be subjected at that point to the idea that lsd would make you insane, kill yourself or make you spend your life in prison.
