DMT Vs 5-MEO-DMT.

SWIM has checked the forum, but can't find what he's looking for.

What are the differences in effects between the two? Or are they largely similar? Is one more toxic than the other and more hazardous to consume?

seems like most swim's like dmt better; they describe it as "more earthy and organic"; while meow damnit has a more spiritual edge to it. I read this on D-F, so the answer is there if one will take the time to really go through and UTFSE.

Also, meow doses seem to be lower than dmt doses (erowid).

DMT has been used for quite a while in tribes and such before people even knew what it was; it has been shown to be quite safe. This is physically at least, mentally, many people have difficulty integrating their experiences.

5-MEO-DMT is reported by users to have a more difficult body load and to be less visual than DMT, but more potent per mg to reach the same "state" of consciousness, whether it be a visually fantastic plane (DMT) or a storybook search within SWIYs mind (5-MEO-DMT).

From Swims perspective, 5-Meo is just not of much recreational nor spiritual value.... It is a really powerful trip, in the sense that one is instantly blasted from reality, but Swim found he was sitting there, gazing across the street, with his mind racing but basically sorta blank... There were no colors seen (eyes closed or open) No patterns, no melting stuff etc... As Swim started to return to baseline, he found himself thinking "" this must be like being dead ""!!!!!!! He did note that there was a nice tactile sense and moderate euphoric sensation that lasted for nearly an hour after dosing.... This was from 23-25mg Pharmaecutical 99% Pure grade material... Swim gave away the rest of his stash after this initial bio-assay.... Nothing there folks move along.... Of course; you mileage can and probably will vary ------sal

5-MeO-DMT does indeed occur naturally, like N,N-DMT does... it can be found in the mucous of Buco Alvarius toads, in certain plants such as Phalaris Aquatica, and in other living species. Other than DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, though, most of the other alphabet soup DMT variants are purely synthetic.

Swim has often heared 5-MeO-DMT described as "DMT's ugly sister".

SWIM is experienced with both NN-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, and whilst he can distinctly tell them apart, there is nothing more dysphoric or adverse about 5-MeO-DMT than NN-DMT.


Could someone explain why 5-MeO-DMT has this reputation as "the ugly sister"? Bad 5-MeO-Experiences?

5meo always lacked the flashes and breakthroughs for SWIM. Unfortunate since it is in everything under the sun! Swim did meet a soul or two who prefers 5meo. Swim doesnt understand how that is possible!

I've encountered people who liked 5-MeO more because they basically liked intense highs but disliked psychedelic visuals... some people are too startled and scared by the vivid, patterned visuals of DMT and use 5-MeO instead for that reason. But since most people who explore this whole family of tryptamines are interested in visual psychedelic experiences, DMT is usually much more well liked.
