I think i love you...

A perfect circle, lacuna coil, 65 days of static, air and savage garden are also really good!

Although, my fluffy purple elephant tells me that better than listening to any music, is playing guitar hero, and realising that all of the other five people in the room can also see the huge lag in timing on the game, somehow making you a much better player, and wondering if it actually is a lag on the game, or if its all of the people in the room seeing things a bit weird... Regardless, apparently it provides much entertainment...

Re: Top 10 Stoney Music?

So many to mention, so many I don't recall right away.... gotta come back
later when I remember more.

Aphrodite's Child
The Incredible String Band
T.Rex
Mike Oldfield
Kraftwerk
*edit*
Fairport Convention
Mahavishnu Orchestra
*edit*
Humble Pie
Crosby Stills Nash and Young
The Orb

There's lots of music which is great anyhow and only get's better when
perceived through stoned ears.

The Incredible String Band
Now there's a band that not many mention! Which is a shame - anyone who thinks themselves a hippie shold at least own 5000 Spirits.

Lee "Scratch" Perry, Dub Syndicate, virtually anything on the Trojan label (not Trojan Beatz that is) - look out for their box sets for a fantastic history of Jamaica over the past 50 years (& yes, there is a Ganja Reggae box-set too!), in fact most roots & early dub

Gong & their friends & relations - Daevid Allen (Now Is The Happiest Time Of your Life is one of the most beautiful albums ever!), Steve Hillage (Green especially), etc.

Shakti & L Shankar

Tom Lehrer

The Penguin Cafe Orchestra

Ozric Tentacles

Funkadelic & associated projects

Cocteau Twins (especially Treasure & Victorialands. Many of their early e.p's are some of the most sublime music A Certain Mouse has ever heard whilst stoned!)

Erik Satie; Ravel's Bolero - find a good version, crank it up & be blown away!; likewise Rhapsody In Blue (Gershwin) - the Andre Previn is amazing!

Nightmares On Wax

The list goes on... I've left the standards already mentioned above, at the Mouse's request.

The Grateful Dead
dear children, you have got to catch the GD when they do "Drums" and especially "Space" and the only way to do that is to hear a live performance but luckily they are free at archive org. and no, Space is not a certain song, it is just the style of music and they use it for an intermission of sorts between sets.

also there and fun to do:

moe (Godzilla)
The Radiators (Zig zaggin Thru Ghostland)
The Mood Control Project (Godzilla)
Abbot and Costello (Who's on first)

yes I like Godzilla and those two versions are bad to the bone. and no, Abbot and Costello do not sing but they do qualify as music to me. so does the sound of bufo alvarius croaking and godzilla roaring<you can get them at sound effect sites.

Godzilla's roar looks like this:

that's seven, so

8. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (Flight of the Cosmic Hippo)
9. Freudian Slip (although these guys may have gone back to day jobs in Florida maybe, they are really really fun)
and
10. the rest of us.

I think it's just an extension of what music you prefer sober, frankly SWIM doesn't think tool is good stoner music at all, but then SWIM thinks tool is awful.

A small, unordered selection of good "high music".

The Beatles
Of Montreal
Aesop Rock
Leonard Cohen
Aphex Twin
Louis Armstrong
Radiohead
The Roots
Venetian Snares
David Bowie
