Drugs and Creative Writing

I was just wondering who else out there likes to write poetry or maybe some other sort of writing while under the influence of whatever. I personally like to do it while sober and SWIM likes to while high. It's cool, SWIM has written some very deep poetry thanks to drugs.

If you have never tried writing while under the influence, you should try it.

Anyone else like writing poetry etc.

I always write my feelings and what's on my mind, when I read it again when I'm sober, it's really weird and sometimes I don't know what I was talking about

I write fiction while under xanax's influence. I have quite a few projects going. It relaxes me enough so that my mind can think rationally.</font>

If I'm really pissed, I write poems or songs that rhyme, but they are always violent. I love Scarface "The Diary", 50 Cent, they have some good violent lyrics that rhyme perfectly.

while messed up its great to write more creative things, they mights
not be as 'neat' or 'clean' (errors, misspellings, sloppily played
notes, etc...) but new things always come out.

it doesn't always happen, but when i'm in the right mood on dxm, the words just flow. i wrote a 5 page poem about the similarities between humans and the octopus. the whole thing is rhyming, and for the most part makes a lot of sense. tapping into ones artistic ability wen high on whatever drug is an amazing thing.

Re: Drugs and Creative Writing

Drugs and writing is always fun. SWIM personally finds writing fun but difficult when on buds, only because my hand slows down, yet my racing thoughts go faster. Mix that with add and almost no short term memory, and it makes for one VERY random and interesting story. SWIM remembers one night, although not what swim had taken, that swim wrote like 10 pages of philosophy, front and back.

SWIM does not have a favourite author, but swims favourite philosopher (so far) has to be Immanuel Khant. Many people rip on his texts, but i think at least half of those people simply do not connect and understand everything he is saying.

Swim found that ritalin/concerta are bad for creative writing in swims experiance, however everyones brain works a lil differently, so if it works.... go for it.

Re: Drugs and Creative Writing

I wrote a comic/satirical/diary thing way back when. The Sunday Cat, which came out on irregular Wednesdays. It was mostly a diary of memorable moments (usually of SwiUs under the influence, often on weed), with any random jokes we though of (which were shit more often then not, but Im damn proud of one or two), and an equally random collection of news articles that featured both the aforementioned jokes, diary entries and satirical takes on events in school or the outside world. We\'d usually hand wrote a copy, drew in some pictures (some of the guys were pretty good artists), staple it together and give it to someone. It would get handed around and seemed pretty popular in our school and group of friends. It had its own website at one stage. Good times........

Re: Drugs and Creative Writing

I'm not the most creative person on the planet, but I enjoy writing spoof newspapers and satirical romance - tis well amusing at times. I quite enjoy writing while under the influence of Caffeine and absinthe, but that's another story.

Re: Drugs and Creative Writing

Hey a nice old topic SWIM started over two years ago. whoa!

SWIM has since he posted the opening post on this thread has wrote damn near 300 plus poems, articles, stories, rambling thoughts etc. and stored them all. And the majority of them were done while high on various drugs.

When SWIM reads back over them he can't remember why he wrote the words half the time but they still make sense and some of the lines shock SWIM to the point of him thinking "whoa I didn't realize I could write so well"

For this SWIMMER anyway, creative writing and other things like playing guitar etc. and drugs seem to go hand in hand. SWIM can do both perfectly sober but he seems a bit more creative and inspiring at it while high.
