Tobacco alternatives (Herbal Cigarettes)

Brousing online I came across Honeyrose Herbal Cigarettes, I dont have an addictive personality so i wasnt really atall bothered about the 0% nicotine content, but I do care for me health, and dragging cigarette tobacco into your lungs with no filter doesnt do you any favours. This alternative has 3.0mg of tar per cigarette, compared to this from erowid

Quote:
This year's report includes a new table (Table 1) displaying the average tar and nicotine values, calculated on a sales-weighted basis, from 1968 through 1994. The Commission has added Table 1 to the report because these data have become an issue of current interest. The Commission intends to supplement Table 1 with additional data in future reports.(3)

And with such brands as "lucky stripe" containing up to 27mg of tar per cigarette. thats almost 1/10th of the tar content.

To add to this ofcourse they cost less, at xxxxxfor 20 cigs.

Now i did read elsewhere that the products arent "reccommended" for long term use, as they still pose the risk of cancers of the throat, but i did read it from a site that seemed to be very anti-drug use, in my reading of it it reeked of bias, and as far as i can see smoking rose petals and marshmallows cant be that bad?...

So, my point: Has anyone tried these alternatives, and if so what is your experience with them? I think ill order some the next time I do an order from the site (i seem to frequent it all to often) but it would be great to get some opinions first.

DO NOT POST PRICES! Or Sources...

Re: Tobacco alternatives to reduce harm and addiction.

Awright Leeds boy...

Yes I've tried Honeyrose herbal cigarettes... They are OK, but they burn very hot and quite minty/menthol-type flavour which can be a bit much. They really reek the place out, not a bad smell but it is like burning a bunch of dried flowers or something! Next to impossible to skin up with, the whole lot will just start burning really unevenly and falling out of the joint! I think the difference from tobacco is less tar so doesn't burn as well or evenly. Dried flowers is the closest I can describe. The main ingredient is Comfrey. No comparison to tobacco, that stuff is nasty evil acrid poison, bad in every way. Hope that helps.

Re: Tobacco alternatives to reduce harm and addiction.

Thanks, yea, i had an inkling it maybe like that, SWIMM and a friend bought some "fake weed" to mix with their real weed, and it just looked like petals and such, but it tasted like they were breathing in smoke from a bonfire. It was rather nasty and put SWIMM off this idea alot.

Re: Tobacco alternatives to reduce harm and addiction.

Personally I recommend using nicotine patches instead of smoking inert tar. ;-)

Neuroprotective! Stimulating! And the risk of addiction in the vein of smoked tobacco is considered to be virtually nil ...

Re: Tobacco alternatives to reduce harm and addiction.

If one is looking for a tobacco alternative for spliffs, one could do a lot worse than the blends 'Yuba Gold Seal' and 'Farmer's Honeyblend'. Both are cheaper, safer and more synergistic than tobacco

Mullein leaves are supposed to be a healer for the lungs. Harvest the tender furry leaves when the flower buds form but before the flowers actually open.

Dandelion flowers taste like mullein so they might have similar healing properties? but dandelions can get SWIM high too. maybe due to the negative ion content. Harvest the yellow flowers after they open but before they evolve into puffball form.
list of health benefits of dandelions:

Red clover flowers are the closest I have found to an actual tobacco cigarette in terms of the hit quality. Harvest the flower as it becomes fully formed but before it ages.
