Hi all
Swim has spent a good while happily going through this forum and learned a great deal doing so - swim says thanks to all for the info, he likes to know a little about everything - helps in pub quizzes etc.
A friend asked swim a question the other day in a purely hypothetical sense about a few things regarding the poppy and swim couldn't answer him, swim had spent a good while looking through similar info, but couldn't find the exact answer.
Swims friend has read about PT and putty, also the fantastic threads on laudanum-type preparations from dried pods.
He was actually wondering about what he would end up with if he happened to come by a quantity of
just cut fresh tazzie pods and stems chopped them finely, soaked them in isopropynol for a good while, then strained, re-strained through a 73 micron screen and then slowly evaporated off
all the solvent.
Would swims freind actually (as he theorises in his inexperienced mind) end up with a substance similar to cooked O without the hassle of watching temperatures like a hawk whilst trying to evaporate off an elephants bladderful of water?
Or would he just end up with horrible, unuseable crap and a ton of wasted pods?
Swims friend was thinking that
if he would end up with the former, he could, in theory, then either smoke it, or dissolve it back into a quantity of decent vodka (50%+ ABV) and end up with a passable laudanum-type concoction that not having too much plant matter would maybe store well for extended periods?
Also swims friend was wondering if the above alcohol extraction and 73u straining might be an alternative way to go with making a purer 'putty' from dried pods without the need for so much heat?
Swim appologises if this subject has already been covered in another thread, he doesn't want to annoy anyone, he found lots of very good useful
similar subject matter, just couldn't find this. He is also VERY well aware that just about everybody here knows much better than him, which is why he is asking.
Edit: Swim found more interesting info by searching harder, being chemically challenged, he is thinking along the lines of 'iceolation' may well be the way to go here
All the best
W
