questions about grafted peyote cuttings

just got a message for my friend swim:
Hi Fnord,

Each button is 3-4cm wide, grafted upon trichs which are rooted in
soil. Each is shipped in its own pot w/ its own soil. and sadly the rest is private

but how will these grow? will the trichs keep growing at thier normal rate and the peyote at its own rate? or will grafting change the growth speed of either one?i know nothing of grafting cacti and just want to look into things more before swim spends a few hundred dollars on what could be something he wont get to play with for years.
