Derrick May gets the thumbs up from me, as does any Juan Atkins or Kevin Saunderson releases, as they are the kings of Techno

Fantastic albums to check when ya tripping are:

Spooky - Gargantuan
Speedy J - G-Spot
Fuse - Dimension Intrusion
Amorphous Androgynous - Tales Of Ephidrina
Aphex Twin SAW1/SAW2 (Selected Ambient Works)

For tripping on speedier things, I like something faster, so a
drumnbass (try dieselboy's 6ixth session) or maybe a psytrance (try
dark soho's combustion). For a more relaxed trip I go for chill
idm (boards of canada, plaid) or maybe some downtempo (royksopp, ulrich
schnauss). When I'm smoking weed, some atmospheric drumnbass is
cool, like maybe LTJ bukem. When I'm drinking, I like trance,
maybe a sasha set or something. Autechre is really cool,
but it's hard to find the right time to use it.

I found that while you are tripping....listen to PINK FLOYDS</span> album ANIMALS</span>.
The whole album will fuck with your head. I thought there were dogs
barking outside, but it was on the album. It made me trip a lot harder
for some reason. I strongly suggest that everyone give that album a
chance...peace....

has anyone here heard of a brainwave generator or binaural beats? i'm not sure on the specifics but i think it's supposed to be to to with making the two hemispheres of your brain workin harmony. Its supposed to help with meditation and achieving different brainwave states. It could be a lot of b/s tho haha google it and see what you think for yourself

dont do drugs.... experience them!

wow, that brainwave generator is cool. I'm gonna try it with my
speakers when I get home [right now I'm test driving it in my
office{w/crappy speakers}]... I guess it works sort of the same way as
a dreamachine, stimulating brain frecuencies to achieve a disired state
of mind.

I wonder if one could induce a drug like effect with this technology...

I have to say that Pink Floyds Animals is amazing while your messed up
(or sober), but my favorite would have to The Smashing
Pumpkins...preferably their later day stuff, Adore, Machina, Machina II
albums. They are so layered and thick, filled with a million different
guitar parts...you can feel and breathe every note...a perfect balance
between rock and dream pop.

Animals is one of my favorite albums to play or listen to. They take
you through a whole range of emotions combining instruments with early
synthetizers and samplers in a superb way. Truly an amazing band Pink
Floyd is. I specially like the stuff from the early Waters and the late
Barret periods. Though they did produce interesting sounds after waters
left the band.

Suprisingly no one mentioned Mindless Self Indulgence.... I'm not a
huge fan of psychadelics, but when im trippen... nothin makes it more
fun than some MSI.

As for weed, i really ont care for weed, but preference on music for
just about any drug still lies in the hands of The Postal Service or
Death Cab for Cutie, if you are into mellow, down to earth with a good
message music then these guys will get you everytime

Amon Tobin, Coldcut, Hextatic, Blockhead. Cool chill out and weird acid jazz from Ninja Tune.

Alias, Sole, Sage Francis, Themselves. "Indie" Hip-Hop from Anticon.

Aesop Rock, El-P, Cannibal Ox. Def Jux

Cinematic Orchestra(epecially their first record,"motion") should be checked out by everyone who likes smoking late into the night, they're also on Ninja Tune, very organic-sounding acid jazz.

Let me also recommend some norwegian artists: Motorpsycho, psychedelic rock, lots of long, trippy songs. Xploding Plastics, dark club music. Biosphere, great ambient, got me through a rough ayahuascha trip once.

My band The Crucial Sufi Experience is very good to listen to under the influence if you can get our cds. We sound a lot like the way acid feels when it comes on. So I guess that we are music that gets you high. We are very intense experimental. We do the drugs so you don't have to.

I know that was a shameless promotion of my band but i will do this whenever possible. Remember The Crucial Sufi Experience. The pulse ofNortheast Arkansas' music scene. Also check out my bands arch nemisis The Parson Brown Project.

I definitely love the doors and pink floyd. they have a ton of great songs to listen to. One real good rap song is by the game-ride or die. It has this voice laughing in the backround that sounds like a demon which really freaked me out, i actually don't even think its a voice but its nice. Another good song is junior jack-stupid disco. Don't forget to listen to these songs with your windows media player if you have it and watch the cool graphic effects, I love em.

I've had one experience with 5x and the tv was on, I hear music is much
better. My question is this. What is the best type of
music? I have lots or electronic music from calm chill, to funky
sounds (blips, beeps, and drums)still mellow , also have a half decent
collection of clasical, as well as relaxing/meditaing nature sounds or
chineese flutes, native drums and chants?

I guess it would be a personal preference but I was wondering what some of you perfer.

Hmmm, I guess it depends on my mood and the type of mind trip i'm having. If i'm completely consumed in another reality i just trip on whatevers playing, usually my brother puts in phish or the doors. phish is excellent to trip on due to its 20 minute brain curdling guitar solos (trey is a madman). The doors create a pleasant atmosphere for me as well, especially their live songs when their chanting. I also like buckethead, hes kind of underground but his music is really atmospheric and trippy. I sometimes listen to public radio too, classical music is really cool when your tripping, sometimes they evenread abstract poetry

When im tripping, i listen to THE WALL by Pink floyd. It puts my mind
into the thoughts of the members of the band and i somehow understand
all the lyrics perfectly. And all the messages and metaphors are really
really trippy.

Also, the song "Echoes" by pink floyd is insane. The lyrics are amazing
along with all the smooth slow parts. Best 24 minute song ive ever
heard.. The only downside: In the
middle there is like 3 mins of crazy sirens and screeches and shit.
Could turn your trip bad in a hurry... hasnt for me though, just made
me go "woooooah, deres sme bhats un hurr". (Translation: Woah. Theres
some bats in here.)

When you are tripping, dont listen to really heavy music. Something
like Metallica or Slipknot could really make you violent and turn your
trip to something insane like being in a war or in a horror movie...
its happened to me! Just anything trippy would be recommended. Peace out and happy tripping!
