Arrow Cyclizine Basics

SWIM often uses Cyclizine with morphine to prevent nausia and vomiting and find it works most effectivly. SWIM also has seen the two administered to him in a hospital environment when he has had to have IV morphine because of injuries.

SWIM has noticed when only on morphine that he experiences alot of euphoria but nothing visual neither CEV or OEV. However when combined with Cyclizine SWIM notices small visuals like the sink cracking or things appearing and disappearing.

On further research of Cyclizine SWIM discovered that Cyclizine causes hallucinogenic effects as an adverse reaction. Does this mean Cyclizine taken by itself and a higher dosage could cause hallucinations possibly to the point of a recreational trip?

In basic terms SWIM is asking

How much CYclizine should be taken for a recreational trip?
Is Cyclizine dangerous and if so what are the effects?

What are the effects of an increased dose of Cyclizine?
Can cyclizine cause recreational Hallucingenic effects?

SWIM is prescribed it at 50-100 mg when taken with opioid type drugs (codeine, Tramadol, Temgezic, Morphine)

Thanks

Erowid has some stuff on the recreational use of cyclizine:

http://www.erowid.org/pharms/cyclizine/cyclizine.shtml

Seems like it's popular in Utah:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...=pubmed_docsum

Max therepeutic dose is 200mg per 24 hours.

The LD50 for cyclizine (if SWIF is a rat) is 165mg/kg

Some adverse effects:

Drowsiness, dry eyes, blurred/double vision, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention (all anti-cholinergic), allergy/anaphylaxis, drowsiness, agitation, hallucinations, inability to concentrate. Can also get paradoxical agitation (esp in children).

Should not be combined with alcohol (increased sedation)

In overdose: Seizures, hypertension, hyperpyrexia, coma and death.

Doesn't really sound like SWIM's cup of tea

Does anyone know if cyclizine is prohibited in belgium? swim went to the pharmacy and asked for motion sickness pills with cyclizine, and the pharmacist told him (after searching) that there aren't any motion sickness pills based on cyclizine for sale.

Isn't cylcizine in motion sickness pills? or did i miss something else?

A dosage of 600mg of cyclizine hydrochloride will cause true hallucinations in the average person. By true hallucinations I mean that one cannot distinguish the real from the unreal. Similar to the effects of Jimson Weed (Datura sp.). I saw one person on this who kept trying to reach into a burning fireplace because he thought he had dropped his pen. He thought he was in school. Another person thought he was with his girlfriend and he made love to a sleeping bag. Was his face red the next day!

The effects lasted about 12 hours. This stuff is very dangerous due to causing a complete loss of touch with reality. One could easily fall down the stairs or wander into the middle of a busy street. Not suggested!

SWIM has no problem with that as he will have a sitter with him, SWIM recently used 200mg of cyclizine and experienced a few minor light distortions and significant gravity alteration. SWIM felt like he weighed 500 stone! You say 600mg will cause true hallucinations, SWIM is worried about the possible damage this could cause to him, what are the dangers of ingesting 600mg of Cyclizine except for the hallucingenic dangers.

Not sure about Belgium but here in the UK cyclizine is prescription only, it's commonly used with Morphine injections IV to prevent sickness. SWIM obtained it after complaining about the morning after sickness he got with his prescribed opiates however i suppose it could be used for motion sickness or any other sickness as it blocks the receptors in the Medulla (part of the brain) from making us feel sick.

The use of cyclizine, generally among young people, has enjoyed fleeting popularity here in the USA - where it is/was sold under the name Marezine for motion sickness.

600mg has not caused any deaths directly, but I doubt it's very good for you. The people I knew who did this only complained of feeling terribly burned-out the following day. I would not suggest doing this. Even with a sitter. It's like a short-term datura trip. Or BZ.

SWIM might work up to that dose, if anyone else has any specifics on damage that might be caused by ingesting cyclizine especially in 600mg values please let SWIM know.

Re: Cyclizine basics

Hmm... this makes a change from Diphen this Diphen that!

May have a looksie and see if I can unearth some definitive info for Cyclizine. Not really my field though as prescription drugs seem like too much effort to obtain.

BTW, you heard of Acrivastine? It's a pretty dangerous sounding antihistamine found in UK Benadryl (primarily the non drowsy version). I've read reports of deaths, and a close friend of mine was seriously ill for a number of weeks, but I'm now beginning to hear rumours of recreational qualities. Seeing as you're also UK, can you shed some light on it?

Anyhoo... will dig up some Cyclizine shit later.

This thread is quite aged, SWIF has written a fair few cyclizine experience reports since here. If there are any questions one wants to ask SWIF is about

Re: Cyclizine basics

Would other side effects of Cyclizine ingestion at a recreational dose include shallow breathing, blood shot eyes, and swelling of the face, fingers, and arms? Is this common for all anticholinergics, and thus would be common for cyclizine? SWIM likes the idea of using controlled doses of delirient antihistamines for mind expansion, but does not like those three effects that have occured during her trips with diphenhydramine, and was wondering if they could be avoided using cyclizine?

EDIT: SWIM did some research, and yes, Cyclizine produces an anticholinergic response, so she would most likely have the same experience, or worse. SWIM also found it interesting that listed under the rare side effetcs of anticholinergic drugs are things like : angioedema, (rashes or swelling similar to an allergic reaction) and anaphylaxis (which could relate to the shallow breathing). Anaphylactic shock ring any bells? SWIM is very glad she went slow with this one..

Though SWIM is wondering if she actually had a mild allergic reaction to the stuff, or if she is just one of those rare people that react that way to anticholinergics?

In SWIF's oppinion the doses required to get what some people call a "recreational experience" with deleriants is very high, this high dosage causes the side effects of the substance to be somewhat more pronounced and hence SWIY's experience. SWIF experienced some of the side effects you mention but nothing he felt would cause a short term immediate danger however this might be his miscalculation. When venturing with these kinds of drugs it really is "dark territory" as very little experience reports are written on them in comparison to the more traditonal recreational substances like cocaine or MDMA.

SWIM was wondering, is cyclizine still available for otc purchase in the us?
If so would it be purchasable without any forms to fill out, red tape, etc.

SWIM believes it is entirely OTC, but brand-name diphenhydramine tends to replace it in stores.

Re: Cyclizine Basics

Cyclizine is NOT the same thing as diphenhydramine. Not by a long stretch. Brand name for cylizine is Marezine.

Drugs-Forum does not suggest the use of these drugs. They create vivid hallucinations that can lead to accidents - possibly fatal. Br damn careful!
