Lucid Dreaming
SWIM has had lucid dreams many times, some nice and fun, some scary. SWIM wonders, is a trip on acid or mushrooms or something a bit like a lucid dream?

Re: Lucid Dreaming
A psychedelic experience can be somewhat like a lucid dream, but not exactly. On high doses, mushrooms or LSD can cause the user to dissociate to a degree and it feels like temporarily exiting normal reality and entering a frame of mind something like the dreamstate. SWIM has only experienced this for a few minutes at a time during some of his more intense trips.

Re: Lucid Dreaming
I have only experieced what Nature Boy is describing one time fully, and other times partialy.
The one time where i actually felt i left my body, and became just pure energy was when i was on LSD, sitting on a bean bag, listening to some music, and i closed my eyes to concentrate on the sound more. Then it seemed like i couldnt open my eyes, and i couldnt seen to move in anyway. I started to panic, but then got this wonderful feeling kind of saying to me "You dont need to move, your no longer there". Seems corny to anyone that has not experienced similar, but after that i could do anything. See anything i wanted, and not just imagine something and see it clearly, but i felt i could see abstract things aswel, like concepts and ideas would all take a visual form that i could understand 100%. Truely amazing experience, having control of the entire universe ![]() It lasted for what was actually about 15 minutes, but i lived a lifetime in there. Its like learning everything in one day, and then trying to remember it all. |

Re: Lucid Dreaming
I've had what seems to be lucid dreams in the past month or two. It started as a weird state of consciousness in which I had my eyes opened and was aware of the elements around me; everything looked slightly different though meaning I saw unfamiliar objects that were not supposed to be there and my vision was a bit distorted. I was not able to move and didnt felt my body but my brain was alert, then my eyes closed involuntarily? and I was submerged into a dream like scenario but I was completely conscious and even tried to touch things to see how real they felt.
Last night it happened like 3 or 4 times, during the last one of them while I had my eyes opened I felt like I was being dragged out of my body, got scared and woke up completely. No psychedelic components were involved, just me and my TV which helps to put some sound to the experience. |

Re: Lucid Dreaming
Swim would say that Ketamine feels a lot closer to a lucid dream or out of body experience than LSD or mushrooms. Moments while tripping can resemble a lucid dream in ways but having had a lot of lucid dreams wont really prepare one for their first trip.

Re: Lucid Dreaming
Well.. Interestingly enough, Our Penial Gland is outputting a large amount of natural DMT while we are in heavy REM sleep.

Re: Lucid Dreaming
Quote:
Concerning your question, a lucid dream can be whatever you want it to be, both good or bad. Lucid dreaming is not to be confused with vivid dreaming. In lucid dreaming you are able to consciously control the entire dream kind of like directing a movie that is playing out before you in every way imaginable. Vivid dreams on the other hand can certainlly be entertaining and intense in both good and bad ways, but vivid dreams are dictated and controlled by your subconscious mind instead of your conscious mind. I hope this is not breaking the rules of the forum here, but here's a link to a site that contains a lot of good information on how to develop your own lucid dreaming abilities. www.dreamviews.com The reason I said that I "hope" I am not breaking the rules here by posting a link to that site is because I am not sure if it's against the rules or not. The rules state that it's not allowed to post any links to commercial websites, but that link is not to a commercial site, it's purely educational. If I have broken a rule I apologize to the moderator or admin of this forum for doing so, especially with my very first post.

Re: Lucid Dreaming
Thank you, I am very glad I found this place, and am shocked that I have never stubled across it before today.
I appreciate you explaining that acronym to me. I would have never figured that one out on my own.

Re: Lucid Dreaming
SWIM used to have lucid dreams when he was younger and remembers them well, and misses them because he doesnt get them anymore. Anyway, A friend of SWIMS gave him some "hallucenagens" which turned out to be angel trumpets. SWIM says that was the closest he ever felt to the lucid dreams he had as a kid. SWIM DOES NOT reccomend using angel trumpets. He said they were TOO trippy.
