Thoughts on NOS Energy drink (Taurine and Caffeine)

Swim just bought a 650ml NOS Energy drink yesterday:

This sucker has 2750mg's of Taurine!
In which is almost 3x the normal amount of 16oz bottles.
The one above is a 22oz.

This is by far the best energy drink swim has came across.
has anyone ever had this one?
Do you like it?
if not, what else has a comparable amount of taurine in it that you know of?
is it your faviorite?

Whats your thoghts on this product?

Note, swim has already stumbled across the non-specific energy-drink thread, this one is on this product, and what is comparable to it.

Re: Thoughs on NOS Energy drink

Swip used to drink a LOT of red bulls to keep awake during hours of driving almost every day. Last winter swip was out playing in the mountains snow-mobiling and found that the rental place by the cabin didn't have redbull in stock. Not liking any other energy drink he's ever tried, he cautiously purchased a bottle of NOS energy drink. YUMMY not just in flavor, but in effects. NOS is definately a step up from red bulls.

that's what turned swim on to it.
swim is also a sucker for graffix and creativness,
and when he seen the bottle, he just had to try.

Re: Thoughs on NOS Energy drink

It better have a ton of caffeine-- around 3 grams of taurine knocks me out. Although the addition of taurine to a highly caffeinated beverage was ingenious, whoever first marketed it.

How much l-cartinine does it have? It pisses me off to see something like "10mg l-cartinine!". Several popular brands have a ton of ingrediants at doses that are ridiculously small just to be put on the label.

What are the effects of taurine? High doses makes you sleepy, more?

Re: Thoughs on NOS Energy drink

Taurine is generally inhibitory. I believe it has some action through GABA. It is perfect for energy drinks in a few ways. It will make you less jittery and more comfortable to be on stimulants, many people including swim will take it with adderall and such. I also believe stimulants use up taurine. Stimulants such as caffeine dehydrate you and taurine keeps your body and brain hydrated - actually for those who have to get up several times a night to piss taurine will alleviate this (this was from another forum). It goes great with alcohol, hence the red bull and vodka craze.

I take it sometimes small doses throughout the day and always around a gram before bed (it improves sleep quality and there is less restlessness). Many people take much higher doses than this though, as much as 8 grams before bed. This will knock you out cold lol. It's also good for memory and brain function.

Ah, seems like getting some for anti-jitter stimulant support and as a useful helper for sleep. Can anyone direct SWIM to taurine research or meta-analysis?

Debunking the Effects of Taurine in Red Bull Energy Drink is a good place to start!

Re: Thoughts on NOS Energy drink

to reply to sterling100. It contains over 300mg's. Swim lost the bottle, so he forgot, but ~330mg's.

Thanks to sterling100 for this information as well.

Swims question: what do you believe to be most effective in stimulatory properties in these drinks l-cartinine, caffeine, inositol, or panax gensing ?

Re: Thoughts on NOS Energy drink

Caffeine and l-cartinine are gonna give the strongest effects. I've never seen anything close to that amount of l-cartinine in a drink, it's enough to feel the effects. A gram of l-cartinine kicks ass though with some crazy mental energy.

Re: Thoughts on NOS Energy drink

Taurine does practically nothing. It's good for getting rid of muscle craps and marketing energy drinks - that's about it. Inositol, in HIGH doses(10g plus) will have a noticeable effect, but I don't think most energy drinks have that much in them. Ginseng is another placebo. The effect you're feeling is from caffeine and other xanthines, and maybe sugar.

ah swim missed this thread, he absolutely loves NOS energy drinks and around the time this thread was posted or maybe a month or two earlier he bought one of the exact bottles and bought extender for motor oil to make a project

The extender was found at walmart in the auto department when swim was just goofing off for 50cents

It's a little tube that fits 20oz bottles and ofcourse what its made for motor oil and you can pull it out to about 1 foot and bend it any way so you dont spill the motor oil all over your engine

swim used a metal bowl from a small piece he had and melted a hole in the bottom portion of the bottle and insterted the bowl and filled it up with water, very nice... now growing mold sitting with other pieces swim has crafted at his secret hideout from the universe..

Swim always makes a piece uses it for a while as a regular piece and then lets it sit intil he thinks of other projects, swim once made a double chamber perculating piece from a two liter bottle and a lid from a cookie jar and the upper half of a 20oz bottle with holes cut it in, pretty nice
