Friend addicted to methamphetamine

SWIM not addicted 2 meth. i just want my help my best SWIY 2 stop taking this drug

plz tell me what can i do 2 make SWIY stop taking meth

SWIY been addicted 2 meth for 4 years, and this year SWIY started doing it a lot. SWIM was addicted 2 meth for a bit, then SWIM quit for good, so SWIM know what meth like. SWIM quit coz SWIM moved 2 a different country. But in country were SWIY live , its very very easy 2 get meth. SWIY very close friend 2 me , i think only SWIM can stop SWIY. But SWIM dont know how

help me out plz ! any info post here PLZ !

Unfortunately, the only person that can *make* an addict quit is the addict himself. He will not quit, or he will relapse if he tries to quit, if he doesn't really want to stop doing it. You might just try sitting down with your friend and talking to him about the addiction, ask him why he does it as often as he does, if HE thinks it's a problem, and if he wants to cut back or quit. See how your friend stands on this issue and try to suggest appropriate ways to help him get where he wants to go..whether that be telling a family member who he thinks could help him, getting him some therapy for addiction, etc.

Good luck with this, addiction is a nasty thing and sometimes it takes a user years to realize the extent of it.

Yes SWIM know its bad and he realy wants 2 quit, but its imposible when its so easy 2 get and when other friends doing meth as well, he cant tallk 2 hes mother ( she prob allready know that hes addicted to somthing, coz hes dad died of meth years ago ) if he explain 2 her that hes proper meth addict , that will make her and him more upset, and it wont help thats for sure. i think i am the only hope

Hmm..it's not impossible to quit just because others around him are doing it. That's called a weakness and he needs to overcome that. It sounds like if he's doing it all the time because it's so readily available to him, then what makes you think *you're* the one to help? Unless you can convince him to seriously rid himself of these other people and/or physically get away from it, it's going to be incredibly difficult to resist any temptation to do it. SWIM is the same way with her addiction (not to meth, but the same situation of always being able to get her drug of choice) and it takes a TON of will power and self-control to say no.

OK Desperado. This friend of yours. it's worth sitting down with them for a while and finding out exactly what it is they like about Meth, and then find out exactly why they want to quit. For example, they may say, "I fucking love the high" (go into the details of that, what do they love about it? The confidence, the euphoria, the rush?) and they may also say "I hate what this drug has turned my life into (likewise, get details, the more the better).

Anyone, who is thinking about kicking a drug habit, is in two minds. The best way to help them at that stage is to help them explore each of those two minds, further than they might on their own. If they really want to pack it in, this will help them motivate themselves, becasue they will find there are far more reasons for quitting. As Augentier says, the only person that can make an addict quit is the addict themselves; doesn't mean you can't help them.

swim agrees whole heartedly with the others, Quitting begins and ends with the user. Meth was swims doc, Nothing anybody did or said got swim to quit. Swiy's friend needs to stay away from all using friends, the pull of meth is strong, the only way to avoid temptation is to avoid getting near temptation in the first place. Yes an addict can only make the choice to stop themselves, giving an addict the tools to use is what others can do. There are a lot of resources available for addicts, there are many online sites specific for meth alone. Help swiy's friend find what works for him.
