Smoking cannabis with Aluminum Foil

I have also heard these things about aluminum. Wile i have never had to use foil before, I have used a can a few times in my day...

getting to my point:
The other day I was at a hookah bar (not something I do often, Hookahs that is) and they would put sheets of aluminum foil over the top of the bowl, and poke several small holes in it so you could put a hot coal on top and that would light the toobaco without haveing to get up or anything. My thought is (not being someone who smokes hookahs often regardless whats in them) if this is the regular practice of a hookah smoker, then it shoulnt really be bad for you. I think its just a bunch of bull shit that just gets passed around. Like "take acid 7 times and your legaly insane" ex. ex.

Now that i think about it im pretty sure they sell aluminum pipes for smokeing commercially at online stores and head shops.

i was told to do this after i made a homemade pipe out of tinfoil...saw the smoke that came off a square piece of tinfoil after i put a lighter to it...and almost felt the pain in my lungs and throat...

all that black smoke...definitely not good for you...

go find ur proof...do it urself...

Actually, that's soot buildup by a non clean burning flame. I got a lot of that on my vape before I used a stormlighter Aluminium oxide (not bauxite) is a grey/white powder.

it's actually not soot, because if you leave the lighter just on, there is no black smoke. then all of a sudden when u put it to the aluminum, there is black smoke? hmm i wonder how that happens...dude just try it, i'm not talking about putting fire to a pipe, i'm talking about just putting the lighter to a flat square piece of aluminum foil before it's made into a pipe. don't make the pipe and then put the flame to it.

just put the flat square piece of aluminum at a 45 degree angle and pu tthe flame right under it, you will soon see a LOT of black smoke.

they do sell aluminum pipes but here at least they are all treated, and all definatly should be, though u can destroy the treatment by scraping your pipe, also i heard it has something to do witht he thinness of the foil which makes it burn easier supposedly, and remember hookahs are water filtered, with just a straight pipe it could be alot worse for u, plus i find it tastes like shit and i only use it in an absolutely desperate situation which hasnt happened for a long time.

i did that once because i was at a friends who had a tinfoil joint already rolled and he told me that he does it all the time and that it works fine, and after one toke, i had the worst cough ever, and he wanted to keep smoking it but it was all he had so i said fuck off and unrolled the weed, told him to get me a socket, apop bottle, a pen, and some tape and within 10 minutes we were baked out of our skulls from the amazing bong i made

Or you could make a pipe out of a pen. Make sure the pen has a metal
tip, and disassemble it. Discard all pieces except the hollow plastic
tube and the metal tip. turn the metal tip in the opposite direction
from the way it was previously facing. Use a lighter to make the end of
the plastic tube softer, and force the tip in. Put a little bud in the
metal part, and there ya' go.



Its good for a quick toke, hardly ever do it anymore though. I used to make these when I got bored in class.

It's a Pretty Easy question. Take a Bud. Set it down. And Crank-up the Heat.


Smoking weed off of a piece of Tinfoil, sounds a lot like putting some in a Light Bulb with a Straw in it (a REAL simple Vaporizer). Actually it sounds easier than smoking Hash Oil, because when you heat Hash Oil, it melts, and can easily slide-off the foil (or boil-up and splatter around). A healthy Bud will just sit there and give-up it's THC (if it works).

No this will not work @ all... Thc can b vapourized but the way ur talking about freebasing wont work. The light bulb trick works but only 2 a certain extent u can take a bud and smoke the thc by putting it in a pipe and smoking it... But dude dont use tin foil 2 much it causes alzeimhers (SP?) and other bad effects if your going 2, atleast run a lighter under it until it gets hot enough 2 burn off impuritys.. When u see smoking comming off it, thats what would b going into ur lungs...

People have been smoking Hash Oil off of Aluminum for many years. It works. It's safe. Clearly smoking Grams of it a day, for a long time, isn't the MOST healthy thing to do, but just take a Vacation from it if your Lungs seem to be affected by it in any way.

Aluminum does cause Alzheimers in people - but it can't be injested through smoke on foil like that. It doesn't evaporate and go into your lungs - if it did I'd be more worried about that BBQ with the big foil wrapped packages of onions and vegetables than a little 15 second shot off a lighter.

How do you know it can't be takin in this way??? Aluminum has a low melting point and many impurities. It would not be unreasonable to assume that heat could cause the release of some impurities, ect.

Another thing, look at all the problems mercury causes. This stuff used to be put in hats and people would get mental problems, ect. No one knew why but when the problems of mercury were revealed, it became clear. It would be very possible that using tin foil for cooking could cause problems if done alot. Many mental diseases are a result of environmental conditions, crap in the air, and who knows, maybe aluminum plays a role. What I'm saying is no one would know any better.

It's a good point. This debate happened in another thread too. I believe something to do about smoking white drugs. Someone contacted a foil manufacting company and they had said that when heated their foil was completely safe (ala BBQ). Anyways it's melting point is: 660.37 °C. Try getting that with a bic.


It doesn't mean that Foilguy isn't trying to sell more foil,and is justas ignorant on the subject as well. There is no absolute truth here I suppose. I do remember reading up on ALzhiemer's when I was studying Psych and their theory was the Al in peoples brains came from Al cookware, when the bottom was repeatedly scraped, leaving fragments in the food.Edited by: MrJim

OK... I just did a little research with some surprising results. 660 C is equal to 1220.58 °F. A scientist said he measured the hottest point of a bic flame at 1300F. So it is enough to melt Al. I'd like anyone with a good thermometer to try this themselves with their own lighters to get some sort of consensus average. Throw the numbers here.


But... The boiling point of Al, where it becomes vapors is a whopping 2467 C. Way, way too high to be vaporized by anything but specialized equipment. So as long as foil has on it nothing but foil (which is what the foil guy said) you should be pretty safe, assuming all that we know today being true, not just theoretical based on false information.

the only time swia would use foil is to chase and never heat directly when she smoking heroin on foil. However swia has used this method to smoke hash oil on its own which seemed effective by holding the lighter underneath the foil so it is not touching the foil!! The vapors are then sucked from a tube like in the method of smoking heroin.

Swim used to use paper ripped from the Bible and found that it worked quite well. It's difficult to get the paper to stick at the end but swim usually found that enough saliva would make it stick long enough to smoke. She'd just have to hurry and begin smoking as soon as it was rolled.

Of course, this is only for those who don't consider burning the bible sacrilege
