Sitters
this is going to sound a bit weird but...i hate having a sitter when im taking drugs, i always feel as if theyre watching me and analysing me, it makes everything really uncomftorble for me, its a real blow to my trip. i prefer it when its just a small group of people 2-10 all taking the same drug. This way, you can all keep eachother sane. when i took shrooms at a mates house there was three of us and one of them went on a bad trip so me and the other one just explained to him that he'd taken a drug and it would all be over soon. i found this much better than i time in a feild where i had a sitter and he would just follow me everywhere, i couldnt even go for a piss without him being within 15metres of me. i know its safer to have a sitter incase everyone goes on a bad trip or if you all loose it compleatly (say youve been taking datura), but seriously, i find it so much better without one.
Anyone else feel the same way or differantly? |

Never had a sitter myself, was advised to first time I dabbled with 2-ci, but I just wanted to do it on my own.
Can see with some drugs you needing someone around, but I like to get a grip of something on my own first, then progress to do it with others later. Anyone who isn't tripping becomes alien, and it's well strange having 'normal' people around, give them all drugs hehe

What if you are on your own? When you have no friends with similar interests and whom you can fully trust?

your basically just taking a chance.. I've tripped alone, but i've also gotten use to tripping that i know how to calm myself down, and relax if things are going wrong... Its always good to have someone with you to watch you in the begining, some one to calm u,just in case you totally freak out and think your dying or any of of the # of crazy thoughts that could pop in your head. Course you could possibly handle with out a sitter, never know where a trip will take u

I always recomend having someone who isnt tripping when the people doing the drug are unfamiliar with it. Once you become a full fleged psychonaut, solo away. It is always better to be safe tho, and avoid situations that could lead to serious trouble.</font>

Yes, and especially on a new substance, its good to have someone sober who you are comfortable being with. I find it actually helps me relax a bit, but when i have used something a few times, sitters are not necessary.

Sitter? Heh.. While I see the point of safety, in my world a sitter isn't really feasible. My husband and I do different types of drugs together and are 'there' for each other if anything happens. Neither of us know anyone else with the same 'interests' and we both have become completely inept at 'feeling' other people out to see if anyone does have similar interests.

I think its optimal to have an experienced psychonaut present for the
first few times with psychedelics. But for many this isn't an option and I don't think its an necessity either. After you''ve gained some experience, and become familiar with trippin, learn to stay calm, not panic and just go with the flow of things I don't think a sitter is needed. I've done most of my highdosis trips on my own with no problems. Though I would feel most comfortable having a sitter present I was going on a strong dose Salvia journey as the effects are so unexpectable (and the hallucinations so real). |

if your alone you just gotta remember that "its from a _____, it'll be over in ___ hours. this is from the ___/" i find repeating stuff like that to help if it gets bad.. or staring at something and just focusing.. like a dime on the floor, anything.

I personally perfer to trip alone or w/ a couple of people who are tripping as well. I have been in a couple of situations (Salvia and Datura) where I did not have a grip on reality and made it through with a couple of bruises
.....it could have been worse. It is probably more responsible to have a sitter, but I dislike someone following me around, too. I will always use a sitter on Salvia, and will not do Datura anymore. Mushrooms, LSD, and the like does not have me running into walls uncontrollably so I sometimes am alone.

Itotaly agree with maxamillion& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp;& nbsp; With salvia in higher doses or combining salvia with other drugs a sitter is ideal most of the timeyou will be too high to notice the person. But i prefer to trip alone it allows me to totally to focus on my trip and not on other ppl sitter or other tripping ppl |

I hardly ever use a sitter. In my early days this led to some
bad/misguided trips, but with experience I've gotten to the point where I can hardly imagine ever needing a sitter. Sure, it gets lonely sometimes, but I agree with the original poster that more often, I feel uncomfortable being around a sober person who is "Watching" me. |

the only drugs i need (or want) a sitter for are salvia and DMT (including 5-MeO-DMT). anything and they just start to bother me. i feel analyzed and bothered and such. and i just start to worry about them (weird, i know).

I've never had an official "sitter". Sober people sometimes annoy
the hell out of me. I mean directly. They'll ask you questions like, "Can you see things?" and I usually have to tell them to go away. Sometimes they won't take you seriously when you tell them to go a way. I've resorted to threats, but it's just an ugly scene. I trust most people to be official trip sitters, unless they knew a whole lot. An ideal one might just be someone to control the music, adjust lighting, and maybe get me a milkshake or something. Also, respond, but don't start talking to me. |

i enjoy having a sitter, i like trying to communicate my experience to them and have their experience of my trip be communicated back to me from their sober perspective. It gets annoying sometimes but it doesnt bother me. I prefer the most to have 2 people, myself and another person on the same substance at the same time, it's easy to understand each other's emotions at the time and to take care of each other....as best we can.

Personally I don't really like having a sitter unless experimenting
salvia or ketamine or anything else that gest you into a 'ketamine-like' safety for safety reasons. I have been a sitter but I have always partaken with the person involved when taking conventional psychedelics. |

Sober people sober me up. Luckily my group of 6 friends all do the same drugs.

agree with most of you, i dont much care for sitters. i feel a bit tense, and restricted, as though i cannot do exactly what i want because they are there. it feels as though they dont understand where you are, unlike somebody who is on it with you.

Anything harder and I feel more comfortable with a sitter.

In my group of friends, one person is always less intoxicated than
everyone else -- like perhaps just a bit high on pot or a little drunk so they are still able to function and would be able to do something in the case of a bad trip or if there's trouble of any sort. |
