Healthy Hedonism: Input wanted

I'd like to compile an article for the forum entitled Healthy Hedonism that will be a collection of helpful hints for maximizing ones enjoyment through staying healthy, moderate, and safe. That sort of thing. I'd appreciate input on general ideas for health: good sources for keeping the brain, liver, et cetera funtioning optimally for people who have a tendency to overtax their receptors and metabolism through drug use and such. I plan on starting at a very general level and then providing links to specific areas of relevent forums for more specific questions. If you have any thoughts please add them here or if you come across places elswhere in the forum that deal with a specific health/harm-reduction/greater enjoyment aspect of use it would be great if you would post a link here if you think this project sounds like a nice idea.
Thanks a lot
h.a.

Re: Healthy Hedonism: Input wanted

I thought this was a rather interesting piece of info I saw today:

She also discussed an experiment where they used a modified adenovirus to increase expression of dopamine D2 receptors in alcohol-drinking rats, showing that it dramatically (70%) decreased alcohol intake for as long as the new receptors were in effect. The picture she was painting was one of addiction being the result of decreased dopamine transmission and decreased D2 receptor density leading to an overall deficit of reward stimulation, which presumably leaves people feeling like something is lacking, which is made up for by strong reward stimulus such as drugs.
I'm not sure how this could be done at home...but an inquiry into methods of reversing tolerance quickly is something i've been very interested in lately. For downers it's relatively easy, naloxone for opiates or flunazepam for benzo's/GHB. But engineering our own retrovirus maybe be a little tricky .
