Re: Epo (Erythropoethin)
Although EPO is commonly known as a performance drug used by sportsmen (especially cyclists) to enhance their performance, it is also used in medicine to treat anemia. It’s a synthetic hormone. Among others, patients with renal failure, cancer patients and even premature babies can get EPO to treat their anemia.
If SWIY were to get a prescription from his doctor it would be considered legal. Side-effects of EPO are increased blood-pressure and risk of thrombosis. Altitude training is a way to naturally increase the amount of EPO-hormone in your body. Swim doesn’t know of any Western country were it would be legal without prescription. |
