Swimming pools and altered states of consciousness
Maybe I'm a water nymph, and am further blessed to be in Los Angeles where everyone, inluding me, has a swimming pool at their aparatment. I've been "getting wet" 3 times a day lately.
The experience has all the hallmarks of your average profound drug experience. It's truly _altering._ SWIM has recentle realized that that's what he looks for in the substrances he chooses to dabble in. You're standing there, next to the pool, naked depending on time of day/night and/or modesty level. In that moment you're dry. Deep breath and dive (SWIM was a swim team captain so he suggests everyone else be very carerful,) and the next minute you're UNDER WATER. This is an entirely different and new state from standing dry next to the pool. No matter how long you linger or what you do in the pool, in that moment, you are profoundly altered. And it's free (here.) And it's healthy! It's like being baptized 3x per day. SWIM can't believe that for his first 3 months in LA he didn't take advantage of the pool. It's blissful. - Beltane |

Re: Swimming pools and altered states of consciousness
Sure SWIY isn't simply getting dizzy from the chlorine in the poolwater?
Just kidding. I don't have a pool myself, but now as the weather gets warmer and warmer I like to jump under the cold shower everytime I come in from the hot outside. Up to 5, 6 times a day when it's really hot! Am I addicted to cool showers?

Re: Swimming pools and altered states of consciousness
Truly,
With the right support structuture in place (2 _SOBER_ sitters-- bigger _&_ stronger than exterimentor) the expenerience of a powerful dissiciative and a dip in a poll-like body of water can make one one understand what normail people ase shooting for when the set up a baptism. PLEASE BE ***VERY*** SAFE, as people have died this way. And no matter how cool a revalatioan is, if a person dies before they can share it, it is USELESSS. BE SAFE, be safe and be safe. When a person has insured that the preceding conditions are met ABSOLUTUELTY (and double-checked to be sure) continue to follow safety guidelines and please report back here. Be safe- - Beltane |

Re: Swimming pools and altered states of consciousness
Beltane beat swia to it, to mention the dangers on swimming altered and not falling a sleep or being unable to move where drowning is possible.
It sure is fun thou. she likes to float around on a nice warm day and drink her southern comfort and tend to the garden while enjoying a nice chilled ice bong periodically before swimming around, specially underwater and also at night when the stars are out.. Imagine a big blob of blonde hair going around the pool hehehe |

Re: Swimming pools and altered states of consciousness
SWIM is like a cat when it comes to water, so he would not enjoy that at all. However, he has some vivid childhood memories. In particular, there's something mind-altering about soaking in & smelling chlorine for long periods of time. I doubt it's literally an effect of chlorine gas, more like the presence of a strong odor for long periods has some unusual effect on the mind.
